Re: Hello Jorb & Loftar, what can I do for H&H?
I'm very certain that it's not "because of Java", at least. When I've been profiling the code, it's not as if all time is spent in OpenGL calls, but that which is spent purely on the CPU doing calculations is stuff that could potentially be optimized -- it's not because of any inherent flaw in Java. That said, most of the time is, however, spent purely inside the OpenGL library itself, so I'm pretty sure that's where the primary possibilities of optimizations lie.kajiura wrote:Is it for certain that client is so slow because of some wrong opengl code, and not because of java?

Hey Loftar, have you ever considered writing a flash client for the game that works as an alternative to the Java version?

I think I can take this one.Misty wrote:Hey Loftar, have you ever considered writing a flash client for the game that works as an alternative to the Java version?
No. The thought has never ever (nor will it) crossed his mind.

Kaka isn't entirely correct this time, because the thought has crossed my mind from time to time; as a comedical absurdity. I would not touch Flash even if it meant that I would get paid for working on Haven. The very thought of it is so abhorrent to me that I felt a strong need to write a smaller essay on the horridity of it; I have now regained my senses and will refrain, though.
