idk if they are worth claiming if only for a piece every 3 days or so

and villages could attack but the village needs to claim the resource to keep it. that'll take some dedication for a small bonus, better to just camp it once the claim is destroyed i would expect

They are worth claiming precisely because they spawn so slowly. You don't want to wait three days just to have someone steal your resource while you're not looking. The slow respawn also gives the resource tremendous value; I've been trading away my Salt for insane value because it's so rare.

Precisely this. My food production is the bottleneck, I regularly eat at 200% without actually using Salt. I guess I could use it to knock me back to 200% after reaching 100% again, but I can get far better value from trading.
