I'm with Avu.
Also Soak for stuff inside the village should increase enough to avoid scorched earth ways of playing.
I can assure you that we will stop playing for the rest of the world if some pvp kiddos or cheaters enter our base and destroy all the cupboards for fun.
I understand them entering to kill perpetrators of scents or to steal my stuff, but being raided to get stolen, killed and all my stuff broken for fun and my animals killed is more than enough to leave.
There is a lot of effort in this game to get rekt in some hours by some no livers without scruples.
We dont leave scents and we have a good relationship with neighbours so we dont expect to get erased.
A solution to this would be, once there is enough population, making another server for full pvp. This way cheaters and raiders could enjoy killing each others while in the other server, a semi pvp one, rules for sieing could be way more strict as the punishments for abusing.

Re: Pre-Announcement: Siege Changes
I do not agree with this at all. Defenders already intrinsically have a completely disproportionate burden in building and providing the target for all the fun and games.gad432 wrote:The efforts of the defenders must be proportionate to the efforts of the attackers.

Maybe, but I still agree with the idea that the defenders should actually have to do something to defend themselves beyond building a wall.

Destroying the catapults is a thing.
What I can concede is that I think it would be nice for them if there was something they *could* do during the siege to slow the process down.

I would also like to point out that one of the features of the regime is that there is a global cap on how much siege violence there can be per unit of time. I'm not sure it plays out well, but it's a thing at least.

I agree completely. It takes months to raise cattle q, therefore it should take months to kill somebody's cattle.gad432 wrote:The efforts of the defenders must be proportionate to the efforts of the attackers.

Clearly, it should take months to commit any murderPotjeh wrote:I agree completely. It takes months to raise cattle q, therefore it should take months to kill somebody's cattle.gad432 wrote:The efforts of the defenders must be proportionate to the efforts of the attackers.

Re: Pre-Announcement: Siege Changes
i don't think it matters so much as to what happens compared to "is it fun"?
i wish losing in hnh was like losing in dwarf fortress, that it wasn't exactly instant. you saw it coming and tried hard to stop it and it becomes like a fierce juggle to keep it up until you mess up. be it starving, a siege, stupid something (like finding hell), or someone going insane and causing a tantrum spiral. but dwarf fortress is much shorter game than hnh for the average player lol
maybe if it was gathering more than building it would be interesting. such as there being more valuable items than a month old character. something like mythical stuff. adamantine sword anyone?
people work hard to make a decent character, why not make it less hardwork and more to finding valuables?

Re: Pre-Announcement: Siege Changes
For this reason more than any other, it shouldn't be possible to siege and destroy someones base in 12 hours. There's some possibility it works for larger villages, that the raids can be stopped as they happen. But the fact is, if this change goes through you can bet that a huge amount of small villages are going to be raided while it's members are asleep/busy. I would think the goal is to force conflict when siege happens, not make it easier to raid unopposed.jorb wrote:I do not agree with this at all.
