So my friend and I were out and about looking for some people to kill earlier on. After stopping by a few bases (All of which looked more than capable of defending themselves) and trying to coerce the people inside to come out, who wouldn't for some reason despite outnumbering us, we continued on our journey.
We then came across a rather large village which had an excessive amount of walls. Aramore is its name, whoever the fuck they are. I was sat in my boat on my archer alt aiming at their gate while my friend ran up to their walls to see what was up. After a short amount of time, 1 of them, who was on a horse, opened the gate I was aiming for and ran out, fully decked out in steel thinking he was solid. I 1 bombed that fuck face, when suddenly 3 more of the fuckers came from the other sides of the base, also on horses.
My friend (Who thought it would be a great idea to PvP while using a fucking touch pad of all things) ended up dying after finishing the guy I knocked out off. I tried to provide covering fire, but apparently 150 MM is completely thwarted by the simple act of moving back and forth on a horse.
Anyway...After he finished off my friend, I actually land a shot, but oh wait, what is this? It hits his fucking horse instead of him, are you fucking kidding me? So not only are horses now a source of excellent mobility, but they're also a free get out of jail free card from archers? The thing didn't even die from a shot that did 498 damage either, which just adds insult to injury.
So now the other 3 back off and start bringing both bodies into their base, which I clearly can't stop, so I figure I might as well do what little other damage I can. So I kill the horse that was aggro'd onto me.
Now here is the second bullshit moment. The other horse is not far from me, but it's in a ditch, so I couldn't actually get a good shot on it, so naturally, I use the attack command to try aggro it into running towards me. Nope, wouldn't work, kept getting a message saying something along the lines of "This is property of Aramore". The fuck?
So naturally, they had time to run out and leash it up and bring it back in. That's some hardcore bullshit if I've ever seen it.
Fuck horses.
No idea where this post belongs. I doubt it's Moot material since the actual story part of it is shit and isn't meant to be entertaining. I just want to know why I couldn't aggro that other horse that was wandering around, as well as why, despite horses already being a massive advantage, are they also being allowed to act as a free shield randomly. I would have dropped 2 of those bitches instead of 1 had that arrow actually hit the thing it should have hit.
Bonus question : What MM do I need to have pinpoint precision?

can't you just aim at a spot and shoot when they are moving past it if they are just moving back and forth?Moisture wrote:Bonus question : What MM do I need to have pinpoint precision?

I actually was trying that, but when I say back and forth. I don't mean literally back and forth in the same spots, he was moving around a fair bit in some general area though.Kaios wrote:can't you just aim at a spot and shoot when they are moving past it if they are just moving back and forth?Moisture wrote:Bonus question : What MM do I need to have pinpoint precision?
Oh shit, they're actually Polish? Did not expect that.Teleskop wrote:Wait Aramore is village of shitty polish players that get bullied on polish forums by serious good players like me
Even though we were looking for a fight, they did actually initiate the whole ordeal by aggro'ing first. Probably because they thought it was my friend by himself.

There was a wise soviet conscript that was surrounded by the enemy on the battle of Stalingrad. A mortar shot teared his pants apart causing a big hole in his pants right on his right butt cheek. He felt a glorious cold ass breeze of wind on his butt cheek, like it would be sent by stalin himself, he said - hide your butts

A horse is big, the rider is small and a good deal of it can be covered by the horse's body (depending on the angle).
I see no problem of hitting the horse instead of the rider sometimes. I say sometimes because I've heard of riders being shot first, too (here in Haven) so you were mostly unlucky, to be honest.
When fighting a mounted enemy, it's quite obvious/logical that, sometimes, you'd rather take the horse down first. This is seen in games, movies and throughout history itself. Being flanked was also probably an obvious thing to prevent if you two checked if they had any other gates before thinking the guy would come out alone.
When realizing you were on foot and outnumbered, your friend probably should've ran back to the boat or something instead of finishing off the guy?
Just my thoughts on the matter, not really into PVP (but I do appreciate strategy

I did indeed 1 shot the first guy who came out on his horse, which is why I was surprised that when I shot the other guy, the horse took the hit instead.DaniAngione wrote:I say sometimes because I've heard of riders being shot first, too (here in Haven) so you were mostly unlucky, to be honest.
While I agree with you on the whole realism part of your post, horses already provide an enormous advantage. So much so that I'd consider a guy with q50 bronze gear who is on a horse more of a threat than, say, a guy on foot who has q100 steel.

Yeah, I agree that horses are a big advantage. But they kind of should be. They also shouldn't be too OP. So I suppose it's a big discussion.Moisture wrote:I did indeed 1 shot the first guy who came out on his horse, which is why I was surprised that when I shot the other guy, the horse took the hit instead.

I'd rather leave it to the people that actually PVP, though. But if it was up to me, I'd say that perhaps horses could be separated into war breeding and work breeding, being a bit more challenging and costly to raise horses for war (and perhaps needing stuff like blinders, which many war horses used) Anyway, that's a whole different thread
