@jorb: without us liberals, you'd be a slave for whichever viking warlord... or you'd be one of the short-lived warriors, maybe. Hard to say. Life is harsh and short without liberal thinking. Don't lump all liberals into a "police/nanny-state socialists" group.
@TeckXKnight: those sorts of things come by suing a company through normal channels. McDonald's (and everyone else in the US) now puts a warning label on hot drink containers because some butterfingered driver spilled their hot coffee. Tobacco labels are much harsher now than they were 20 years ago in communicating the risk of cancer and worse or harm to a fetus, plus they had to give up a few billion, all for inadequate health warnings (yet tobacco remains legal).
As far as "crazy people," I'd be labeled as one of those "crazies." Why don't I have a right to arm myself? I find solace in outdoor activities. I like to travel. There are many parts of this country you don't go outdoors without at least a large caliber side-arm, preferably a solid deer rifle, in case of wild animal attack. If I can't carry a firearm, I'd be forced to give up one of the few activities that brings me some peace. (That and the taste of fresh wild game just can't be beat.) I'll note that wild animal attacks in the last 30-50 years have been relatively small, but populations of bears, cougars, and wolves are increasing significantly, and along with that are attacks on domestic animals and even humans.

Abusus no tollit usum.
The Swiss prove that.
The difference between Switzerland the the USA, it seems to me, is that the Swiss make training in the usage of weapons mandatory for their citizens.
I support the Constitutional right to bear arms - on the condition that gun-havers are trained properly.
And this is why I will not participate in any more political discussions - please. Gotta think outside of the box and be willing to see the other side of things for it to be productive.

I think we should just exterminate mankind. Think about how much that'd solve!
“We still, alas, cannot forestall it-
This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”
An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

When I pulled up those links I got stuck on the energy drink pagesMagicManICT wrote:In a few of these cases, the manufacturers have been successfully sued for A) false advertising, B) faulty manufacturing, or C) gross negligence. Let's start with the easy ones
Cigarettes
Alcohol
Fast Food
Energy Drinks
Damn, it looks like lawyers are going to be pretty happy with all the new cases that this would open up
It's actually insane how much caffeine is in those 5 Hour Energy drinks! Like 3.5k or something while everything else on the list (monster and redbull included) sits at around 300
They got me through 6 finals weeks and a drive across the country though

The Bill of Rights is archaic. It was a construct that was adjusted to the time it was created. At that point in time it was possible for people militias to rise against the government and have a chance at being successfull. (The rebels did lose the civil war though). Not so much nowadays. Having a semi automatic wont help you against drones or cruise missiles. The time when you could collect some red neck rabble and rise up to the government is over. Sorry.Igglebert wrote:dageir wrote: Every person who wants to buy a gun should be subjected to a mental health check.
Also, why are assault gun like weapons for sale? You dont need half automatic rifles or fully automatic rifles for hunting.
You do not need hand guns or pistols for hunting for that matter.
You need rifles and shotguns for hunting.
Well it's a good thing that here in the US we have a bill of rights and not needs. While I do agree that keeping guns out of the hands of what society would consider "crazy people" should be a thing. How would a government be able to do such a thing? What qualifies as crazy? There are a lot of things that people say and do now days that some people consider crazy while others think is completely normal. Where would the line be drawn when it comes to identifying people who are mentally unfit to own a firearm?

Re: Can Anyone Explain Why Gun Manufacturers Shouldn't be Su
Here is the Second Amendment: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." A "well-regulated militia" sounds like trained soldiers rather than just letting any old yahoo have a weapon.dageir wrote:The Bill of Rights is archaic. Anyway, if a Bill of Rights is archaic, then so are good and evil. If we have no real rights or duties, no thing is really good to do, and there is no such thing as abuse to forbid. The Bill of Rights only recognises Rights. It does not grant them.
EDIT: Damn it, lured in again!

Good and evil is archaic, that is for sure.
The notion of good and evil is the source of much anguish in the history of mankind.
