Since we have a new great usage for parchments, it would be more than great to add new usage - map scripting.
Key features:
Right-click the empty parchment and choose "Turn into the map" - The Parchment now turns into The Map. Right-click again to "name map" (same as keys mechanic) or "see map".
Hold it in your inventory, while wandering over the world to do map-scrypting.
The more Exploration u have - the more accurate map u will have (like 'Echalon Book' games style cartography).
New skills:
Cartography - adds a localized resource nodes to your maps.
Map Scrypting - allow to add your own marks to the map.
Drawed map can be lost, traded, gifted or taken just like a sub-token.
New object:
Wall map: hangable on walls (coveres 2 or more wall tiles). Inventory personal maps could be "merged" in it.
Reasons:
1. No need to wait for someone to bring a site with new-world's-map jsut to remember your surroundings.
2. Good covered/well described maps could be a precious trade goods.
3. It is too cool!
That's for the beginning. If somone (like Jorb) is interested in that, I may bring more detailed concept.

Re: New item - Map
We have this in legacy I think. It was useless. People make custom clients for doing this much better.

Re: New item - Map
we had maps before, you would have ink and make maps of the nearby area and you could combine maps into larger maps or to update the maps. no one would use them other than larpers
they are obsolete as ysh has stated

Yeah, iirc (too lazy to pull up/find the post), the devs pretty much just said they didn't implement it since custom clients already take care of it all.

Re: New item - Map
We'd like to expand on the default client's handling of maps instead.

Being able to put them on a lectern or a big-ass "YOU ARE HERE" Mall Map type structure could be fun. Entirely pointless from a mechanic perspective for the most part. But interesting nonetheless.
