When you are ingame, you should be able to invite your Kin to share your fire.
If the player is close enough for them to travel to your fire, it would display an invitation (like being invited to a party), and if they accept cause them to travel to your hearthfire exactly as if they had chosen to travel to their own were it there.
Perhaps this could also give you a 'visitor' buff which lasts 10 minutes to half an hour realtime and during the duration of which you cannot summon another hearthling to your fire, to prevent repeat/mass summoning.
Also, taming an Auroch into a bull should allow it to be hitched to a cart to pull the cart without your stamina use. Not that I've tamed an Auroch and would know whether or not this can be done, I'm just throwing it out there.

Re: Invite to Hearth Fire
devs are trying to get rid of, not encourage, teleportation. The delay wouldn't mean jack shit because alts could be created to repeat the effect.

I don't see why we should be able to have alts kin to our own characters, or alts spawning as kin of our kin.
It's just silly, although you could be going through quite the web to prevent both of these.

Re: Invite to Hearth Fire
We don't have them because of a philsophy of development by the devs to not police the player base beyond gross bug abuse/exploitation. Please consult the development philosophy in the announcement forum before making further retarded suggestions. Most other players will not be so kind as I have. If you want to argue that you should not have to read dozens of threads to educate yourself on the base design philosophy of the game then you take your decided ignorance and shove it because no one will give two shits about what you have to say unless you do...even then...

And having tens of alts to do the work of a larger number of people without actually having anyone else isn't exploitation? Sure it's not really a bug, but I don't see how it's not abuse or exploitation nonetheless.Chakravanti wrote:We don't have them because of a philsophy of development by the devs to not police the player base beyond gross bug abuse/exploitation. As for my perceived 'ignorance', I have checked through both via searching the announcements forum for the word 'philosophy' and also by manually going through all five pages scanning the topic titles, and there's nothing about or relevant to development philosophy unless it's in a completely different thread and doesn't contain the word 'philosophy'. And if you're aware that it's there one would infer that you know which thread it is, and if it's not particularly visible then perhaps it would be a smart thing to actually link to it. I am, however, already well aware that jorb and loftar don't police the players particularly heavily, but alternate characters being able to spawn with others on the same account is something which hasn't really even got any potential non-abusive uses.

Re: Invite to Hearth Fire
It's scattered about the announcements forums in various discussion that you should read anyway to understand this history and direction of development that the game has taken and what events have lead to those changes.
The core concept is that such things as alt abuse and macroing will be dealt with by changing game mechanics and not instituting a policy of policing because policework detracts from development time and is indicative of a game design flaw rather than a flaw in the character of the player base. Since this is alpha, alt abuse and macroing are even encouraged to be explored and discussed so that such design flaws can be addressed.

Also, THIS scenario is better than spamming the database with hundreds of alt accounts just to make alt characters. loftar has even mentioned that it should be possible to play multiple characters on the same account simultaneously and that not being able ot do so has obviously already lead to the creation of most people carrying half a dozen alt accounts.Weiss wrote:but alternate characters being able to spawn with others on the same account is something which hasn't really even got any potential non-abusive uses.

Re: Invite to Hearth Fire
Depends on whether or not you consider it a point of pride to do things with solely one character and keeping your characters far, far apart. IMHO, what sets good games apart from fodder for the masses is requiring people to not play in a masturbatory fashion. If you want to play alone, be a hermit. If you want to play with other people, join a village. But getting together a bunch of alts (or even just two characters together) to play with yourself is just sad.theTrav wrote:I wouldn't call a full nature and full industry pair of characters abusive...
