More nature = more seeds from crops you harvest, better chance of trees surviving on your herbalist's bench
More industry = better chance of getting metal from your ore.
Exploration & Perception both increase your chances of finding herbs, while Survival increases the quality of them, up to the quality of the soil they grow in.
