A Univers chanel !
OK, its taboo, but it surely would be a lots of trolls and fun like forumX10, giving to this game the feeling that he is full of life when you poor hermit farm your carrot in lonelyness.
Hate factions speak? Poor noobs whinings ? bad english? stupid questions? give secret and intel about locations? wall of shame? racisme, nazi delirium, indecence and homophobia?
Sure, but like in the forum, and people enjoy it after all.
Customs chanels for different language should be a big + to avoid cyrilic giberelish :D

I think ender's client during world 4 or 5 had a 'World chat' channel. It was pretty neat to pop in and see what was going on in there, occasionally. I think you're better off asking one of the many custom-client creator's to implement this, though, as it does sort of change the immersion and the scope that Jorbtar is conducing.
