Bulletin Board.

Postby Dataslycer » Thu Mar 11, 2010 8:42 pm

There is a bit of a lack of ways to create a message to a group of people especially in regards to villages. People have different time zones as well as different times available to play. It would be helpful of a way for the people to communicate with each other (not the forums, that's global public). What I propose is to have a carpenter be able to build a bulletin board. Now the board itself is not going to have messages alone, it will require people place parchments with messages. When this is done, the messages can be seen when you use right click > "read" upon the board.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

While its possible to simply stick parchments in a basket having something that's parchment only and specifically for the purpose would make things a bit easier, I think at least 5x5 storage and a cost of say 2 boards 2 branches would be good. I could see people having them in front of their houses as a kind of mailbox.

Well what is this that I can't see

Well I am death, none can excel

in game BB's have been suggested many times and most people think they'd be ok except that it would require loftar spend a lot of time messing around with Java font rendering, which he seems reluctant to do (understandably, it's fiddly annoying and dull work) so you probably won't see it any time soon

If its just a contain for parchment how is that require any real changes to the engine? Are you envisioning something a bit more complex which would hold longer messages or allow replies?

I'm envisioning people will want to leave messages that span multiple lines
