Re: How did you learn about this game?
Despite doing everything i can to avoid contact with others, I somehow managed to make some friends in my college course back when i started in 2009 or whenever it was (holy fuck guys where does the time go), one of them saw my taste in games and recommended haven and hearth for me to try out. I googled it but kept searching for heaven and hearth. I wasn't too starved for something to play so i gave up quickly and made a mental note to ask him about it. A month later he inquired if I had tried it, i said I had not, and we planned to hang out at his place after class to learn me the basics.
He's into the whole marijuana thing, not a total reject burnout but a stoner for sure, and I decide to accept his offer of a puff. I had done it before with no effect, and this time i focused on doing it right. I did it right. It made it very hard to learn the game, but i definitely liked what i had tried, aside from the horrible patches of satanic static that seemed to pursue me in my endeavors (ants).
The following day I sat back down with it and tried to recall what i had learned in my first drug-induced haze. I died a lot back then but i thoroughly enjoyed the game as a whole and the fantastic spritework.
I do miss that spritework but the game has evolved in a way i adore. The development had me playing for a month like a madman, and then stopping for a few months while things moved forward. After doing this a few times i stopped dying altogether, started to get further into game mechanics. Salem was an interesting change, I went for that once it had come into it's own some and me and my college friend had an alright time with it, but once i came back to haven afterwards it was like having an annoying constant noise you forgot about shut off suddenly, leaving you to soak in the relative silence that follows.
Also I smoke pot every fucking day and it simultaneously sucks and is awesome, I hate having a vice, but I love having no other vices (aside from video games and coding, but people label those as 'hobbies'). I hate spending money on it every month, but i love spending NO money on more games and enjoying the ones i have.

I like building villages large enough that i can fit more than one timber house. I mean there aren't many flats areas. if you want even a moderately sized village your gonna be digging.MadNomad wrote:what the fuck? noone told u to build palisades on weird curved mountains instead of flat or almost flat area and there are a lot more areas like this than weird mountainsThe_Lich_King wrote:we can say this for legacy... you didn't have to dig for hours to make your pali

The devs are /b/tards... welll, jorb is/was, at least. (As if it wasn't obvious.)Salad wrote:I'm not surprised really. Most of you people probably use /b/, Savages.Arcanist wrote:I came here from /b/
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Re: How did you learn about this game?
I did a Google search for Online Crafting MMO's, because I have always liked that type of game and because I knew of none currently on the market.
Two games popped up, Haven & Hearth, and Salemthegame.
I took a look at both websites, and decided to give Salemthegame a try because the graphics looked so much better. (This was pre Haven&Hearth 2.0).
After playing Salemthegame for several months, H&H 2.0 came out, and several Salem players I talked with talked it up as better than Salem.
So I decided to dive in. No regrets since, its just the genre I had been looking for.
