Does quest exp also count towards authority? I was trying to see if it does but kept getting hunger reduction and useless amounts of LP.

Re: Game Development: King's Bounty
A patch in the right direction.
Exp into authority should come from both hf of people inside the claim and people under the claim with hf elsewhere. Larp reason for this is obvious citizens abroad will increase the fame of the father land and will often send money back home while visitors be they merchants, workers or diplomats will also benefit the place they are in. Mechanically it will force border claim disputes over active areas. This is a good thing.
I don't think applying the evil diminishing returns on bonuses will help any. Every village will have their own kingdom and expanding past that will be mostly without tangible benefit.
Making a too huge kingdom that engulfs all should be discouraged by applying a civilization like bureaucracy/corruption system. The further you are from the capital (mostly as a function of how large is the kingdom area rather than a straight line) the less you provide and less you receive from said kingdom. This should be an increasing returns function; for a huge initial area no penalty, slight penalty after and the more you get closer to an area say a quarter of the server size or a 10th or whatever the edges will be quite pointless. To make this more fun I'd allow a rebel kingdom to join another kingdom as a vassal as a way to voluntarily and diplomatically transfer with a cost to another kingdom. Maybe the costs for the rebellion should be lower the futher you are as well.
Current bonuses seem small but if the game ever gets a decent population they will be quite awesome for newbs. So the solution is simple get more people playing.

If only more people said, wow this looks great I'm going to come back and try it out instead of wow this looks great I'm going to come back NEXT WORLD and try it out.

"If you build it, he will come" might be misused here if that's what you're referring to. Building the Field of Dreams was a venture of hope and nostalgia where as in this case such would be a venture of risk. I'd like to see something similar to legacy charter stones but for a realm claim which can be built for players to spawn at but I have the strong suspicion that these would be mostly used by players already part of large factions in order to spy or get alts out to your area.Ysh wrote:Men come to built places.

System gets better with many player, yes. But many player do not come until there is good system. I think usage is fine here.Kaios wrote:"If you build it, he will come" might be misused here if that's what you're referring to. Yeah I get it but it's kind of difficult to test mechanics (or even use them to any reasonable extent) that rely on having players without the players, is my point.Ysh wrote:System gets better with many player, yes. But many player do not come until there is good system. I think usage is fine here.

Maybe I misread your tone. I think before you were complain developer add some speculative feature as this.Kaios wrote:Yeah I get it but it's kind of difficult to test mechanics (or even use them to any reasonable extent) that rely on having players without the players, is my point.Ysh wrote:System gets better with many player, yes.
