As a man of Jewish beliefs I don't think we should add nonsecular themes to video games.

Actually why don't we have a yule tree in game? This is absurd, I tell you.
It should be a regular thing really. Even if we had to do a series of quests to get one, like burning a mirkwood log, catching a hq boar, putting shinies on bushes, setting things on fire or whatever it is that you barbarians do this century.

Im pretty sure that devs dont even spend christmas.
Maybe they dont even know what christmas is.
Regarding from previous holidays..

H&H is a vaguely Germanic/Norse medieval setting; instead of Christmas or Hanukkah et al., why not something more akin to Yule? This opens the holiday event up to including totally metal things like sacrifices (and totally holiday things like big feasts).
Or, depending how obscure we're willing to get, we could do something like Dísablót, with even more blood and sacrifices and death. Seems appropriate for H&H imoA description of pagan Yule practices is provided (notes are Hollander's own):
It was ancient custom that when sacrifice was to be made, all farmers were to come to the heathen temple and bring along with them the food they needed while the feast lasted. At this feast all were to take part of the drinking of ale. Also all kinds of livestock were killed in connection with it, horses also; and all the blood from them was called hlaut [ sacrificial blood ], and hlautbolli, the vessel holding the blood; and hlautteinar, the sacrificial twigs [ aspergills ]. These were fashioned like sprinklers, and with them were to be smeared all over with blood the pedestals of the idols and also the walls of the temple within and without; and likewise the men present were to be sprinkled with blood. But the meat of the animals was to be boiled and served as food at the banquet. Fires were to be lighted in the middle of the temple floor, and kettles hung over them. The sacrificial beaker was to be borne around the fire, and he who made the feast and was chieftain, was to bless the beaker as well as all the sacrificial meat.

lol what.. christmas has nothing to do with religion. It was originally a pagan holiday, but it's long since become a commercialized holiday.Onep wrote:As a man of Jewish beliefs I don't think we should add nonsecular themes to video games.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

In that case I think Novy God would be more appropriate. It's like a secular excuse to celebrate new years with the whole christmas theme from what I understand.overtyped wrote:lol what.. christmas has nothing to do with religion. Also with such a russian majority it seems even more fitting. *Not seriously suggesting this*
Then again, why not draw inspiration for a haven-esque holiday from the folklore haven is already based on? We have magic, strange beings and all that stuff. It could be much more interesting!
