Animals disapear from hitching post

so far 4 animals have disappeared today after being hitched to the hitching post.

when you hitch them you see the +15 above their head so we know we have done it right... leave the area and let it unload and the animals will be gone.

Not sure if this is the problem, but if you go through a round of taming, you have to re-hitch them or they'll despawn.

no this is just hitchign them up... 5 min later they are gone

wow yes. the hitching post might be only 4 tiles away from the next grid......

This is a known bug by which animals may lose their hitching references if they do not load with the hitching post, and it is a likely cause of OP's troubles.
