There is one single main problem - alts.

This is part of the nature of the game, though, and you can't cure or prevent it. You have to develop game mechanics to make developing more than one character undesirable. Still won't stop it, but you make those that want to have 10 accounts and 50 characters running jump through hoops to do so. Hell, even full subscription games have a lot of second and third accounts with max number of character "just because I can."

Recycling scam alts in certain MMORPGs is a real thing. Get what you need to on them to run your scam, and then delete the character when its usefulness has run its course.

Shitload of posts, but still you guys are arguing about the symptoms, not about the cause. There is one single main problem - alts. As long as you can have more free characters there will be "broken" ways to play the game. Leantos, nidbanes, localised resources... Everything is abused by alts. If you would be forced to have limited amount of characters it would be much easier to solve. But that would require another payment model and stuff. I honestly don't see what's the point of discussing how much LP it should require to be able to leave proper murder scents when the problem is not the murderer but the possibility of the victim being an alt.

This is the only thing that matters really. I'm amazed at how much work has been wasted just to make the game playable despite alts - the crime system, siege, claims, visitor debuff, progression, balance, and who knows what else. It seems everything revolves around alts, and I imagine where the game would be if development didn't have to account for unchecked alting.

Great update! But would love to still be able to inspect the Q of wild animals after death. Fair enough we can't while alive but it's very useful once they're dead.

it's not like the devs didnt tried a bunch of things throughout 10 worlds... alts exist because permadeath exist... decisions decisions

In Legacy Barbarism vs Civ was a reason for having a need for Alts ... (and having loads of tedious chores - claiming sometimes) ...

Killing an entirely fresh alt spawn will, thus, no longer imply having Nidbanes sent after you. Crimes against property -- Vandalism and Theft -- are unaffected by this. Think about noobs and hermits. People can just run around slaughtering them with ABSOLUTELY NO consequences. If something encourages noob killing. Its this.
Alts need to be dealt with some way, but this is absolutely not the correct one.

Issue is that devs are bombarded with filthy pvprs from forum. And the game just gets more noob-unfriendly. Im pretty sure that devs will delete criminal debuff next

If everyone would do what they want to and no one would be "forced" to do anything that they even briefly dislike. Terrible things would probably happen.
