If your mother one day separated from your father because she "wanted to have some fun", would you just wish her well in her future enterprises?
In this hypothetical situation are my mother and father in an open relationship and her doing that wouldn't hurt my father? In this case, I would wish her well indeed. In fact, my parents are divorced so at the moment they don't mind if the other one goes to "have some fun", so I don't mind at all. As long as it's hurting nobody, it's okay.
I think the point went over your head Nooby. Loftar, you should have created a scenario using false people(example imagine bob did this..) as an example. Would have helped get the point across better in my opinion.

I'm gonna agree with Onep here. There's a difference between really liking something and being addicted to it. Nothing wrong with loving sex, but addiction is bad.

What was the point though? In that particular example, whoever the people are, false or not, fit into the same thing I said: If both persons agree that they don't mind if the other one went out to "have some fun", it's not a bad thing and is completely okay.

Fair enough, I wasn't aware sex addiction to the point of being comparable with other addictions was a thing, my bad

The fact that just a relatively few years ago we tried to force people to change what they are to fit the rest of society. It was wrong. Isn't it just as wrong to tell a person they can't be who they want because family/culture/society can't accept that behavior.

You're incredibly wrong.

Addiction - the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.
As a diagnosed sex addict, I can tell you that to stop having sex causes no severe trauma. Is there trauma? sure. Do I need to be checked into a hospital to be treated because I didn't get laid this week? No.

IMO, it's a bullshit diagnosis. If anything, it falls under other types of mental disorders. It does need support and treatment, but it isn't an addiction like we label drugs and such.
And honestly, how is sex addiction not harmful? What if I'm so desperate I go out and hire a prostitute and get thrown in jail? Or get involved in a sex trafficking ring to sate my addiction? Or if I have an STD and go gallivanting around spreading it without telling my partners? Or I destroy my family because I've cheated on my spouse?
Assumption: prostitution is illegal. it shouldn't be. it should be monitored and anyone that wants to get paid cash for sex should get mandatory health cards like they do in Las Vegas and Amsterdam. I'd work as a prostitute if I didn't want to back to jail again, but I'm just not pretty enough to live off of it (that and I have certain specific sexual hangups).
STDs: this is a jailable offense in some areas, is at least a civil offense (offender can be sued for medical expenses), and can even be a felony when it comes to HIV. However, other than HIV and herpes, aren't they all curable now? Hell, we're even starting to see vaccines for some (HPV). Plus, one word--condoms.
Family: well, if you aren't being honest with them, isn't that more the destructive force? Or maybe the partner that can't forgive? I'll give you the one where the partner just won't stop, and won't even try, to the point the other partner in the relationship can't forgive anymore. Then again, someone should have been more honest before the marriage. I give points to the Catholic church for mandatory marriage counseling, but it only goes as far as the couple wants to go with it. Again, if they aren't encouraged to talk about things they haven't thought about or are reluctant to talk about, then things can fall apart.

I didn't particularly like that addition to the definition, it felt extreme and limiting. But it was the first one I used and I didn't want to manipulate it. Here is a much better definition: Addiction.

But the fact remains that, despite whether or not it should be legal, it is illegal in the majority of the world and that would make it problematic.
I was mostly just trying to demonstrate how it could be harmful with several examples. Such is the case with many addictions, it is when they are pushed to the extremes that they develop these detrimental issues.

gender dysphoria is a mental disorder and should be treated as such by family members, the culture surrounding it is just sad, so many people who kill themselves because they don't get the help that they need.
