+1000, preach preach, everthing ^ so true. The way so many on gaming forums beg, plead and search for a sandbox mmo (and complain that only EVE comes close but wants to be a ship..lol) that there would be some company or Indy devs that would cash in on he desire for a sandbox like this minus the griefing and freekill murder. Sooner or later they will.Avu wrote:Hey I'm for hundreds of HH clones as opposed to WoW clones in the MMO arena but sadly that won't happen. The concept of a spanning sandbox MMO has been around forever and nobody ever made it probably because it's cheaper to develop and maintain a wow clone where everyone plays alone among many and the world never is affected by player input. Even in the single player department you got what Sims and Dwarf Fortress that resemble this even remotely? Sims is a soulless game designed to make you buy the next chair and expansion and DF suffers from ASCII syndrome that makes it inaccessible to the masses (that's assuming the masses even want something like that they seem content enough to play endless asian mmos and EAs yearly recycled games)

That's what SWGemu guys are working for. To give back sandboxers what SOE stole us.Rhiannon wrote:Sooner or later they will.

I know about it. I might have needed to add the lack of a mouse interface?
"Since all men count themselves righteous, and since
no righteous man raises his hand against the innocent,
a man need only strike another to make him evil."

Re: Sick of their sort of "fun"
Its a sandbox game, if it allows attack/theft/murder you have to expect it to happen, otherwise this game is not for you.
But i do agree, there are plenty of people have to spend an odd hour doing bits and pieces, that do not want to be involved in combat that can ruin all their effort. End of the day violence/evil wins, lots of benefits with little cons.
End of the day, law enforcement offers no benefit to players and evil actions no real detriment
I have the idea of a karma system, with rewards for killing bad karma players, and lots of other little additions, but at the end of the day there will always need to be a section of moderation even if only to encourage players to take the fight up against grievers.
Grievers attack in groups vs players who might be offline
Grievers attack without warning vs players who might be away from the village/claim
Odd are always in there favour, and lets be honest, people play games to do stuff they can't normally do, you let them do bad things with no real life consequence they will do it.
