W6 and W7 Brodgar

Post by satanXsatan »

Hey. Some of my fondest memories of hnh were of open towns called 'Brodgar'. Started by a guy named Yolan. These towns existed prior world 6 but I started to play in w6 and finished in w7. I guess i just wanted to share it with those who are unaware how cool these open cities can be. We are used to each hnh village to be closed off etc. How Brodgar worked was that everyone could just build their little claim near other claims. People would come out, talk, build stuff together, go foraging together. It was a real nice community. Ofcourse we would get ganked. It was hilarious. People would lure bears into the village, high lvl ppl would come over and kill us once we went outside of our claims. There was a moment in time where a bunch of strong players came over but instead of killing us noobs mostly waited for high lvl raiders and killed them instead. W6 brodgar started at the end of the world so we Brodgar citizens couldn't really catch up.

W7 Brodgar however started right at the start of the world. It might have not been as active as w6 brodgar but still was great fun. There were no superman strength players yet so we could really build up and even get good Q nodes. We had functional trading between ourselves. It was really cool. Some guy even began a newspaper and traded it or blueberries and fish. I remember a non-Brodgar trader would come over once a day or so and would bring metal tools and such sort. Some players shared some stuff but others had their private mines, nodes etc. Me and a 2 other people ran a steel operation, I personally had some dope clay and a REAL good fish node ( and water). We had at least one good well of Brodgar that anyone in the village could go there and hoard water for crafting. Close to my claim there lived a full time cook, I traded clay for yummy cakes.

I guess the point is that there could be more variety in hnh, not only hermits and big clans, but also open cities. OFC that will never work because of superman-like skill inbalance among people.
