Hey guys,

while meditating on the topic of inventory objects and how i absolutely hate having to manually screenshot, and clean up every item, I realized we have this super useful feature: the item code!

Code: Select all

[item]itemname[/item]

use this cool code in the forums to make all sort of whack inv objects! [item]mole[/item][item]hedgehog[/item]

the more useful purpose, however, is that we may use these images to update the wiki with clean, transparent item images without actually having to make them
[item]chick[/item][item]skull[/item]
[item]mammothtusk[/item][item]b12axe[/item]

item names seem to be the invobj name opposed to the in game name, so keep that in mind.

[item]trollskull[/item]

Heyo fellas,

I rebuilt all the cheese pages with infoboxes, but they all need proper FEPs added, because i dont have that info. Please visit the Cheese page if you have any good info. Furthermore, the cheese pages in general are a little bit messy, and if any experienced cheesemonger wants to go through and rebuild these pages, that would be cool.

Furthermore, a special thanks to romovs for generating 1000+ inventory objects for us from his .res cache. [item]mandrakespirited[/item]
we now have almost every inventory item in an original, unedited form with a transparent background. [item]silverrose[/item]

Hey guys just your friendly neighborhood wiki guy here-

I completely overhauled the Attributes and Abilities page. hopefully these pages will get some good usage (and maybe people will add more info)

Instead of haphazardly listing equipment that gives bonuses/penalties, the list is now automatically populated as long as their stats are listed in their infobox

Thus, at the suggestion of @Rootconsoler, properties were added for all the abilities. to look at the new infobox template, please check the Infobox Documentation.
Attrbutes were originally named 'statXXX', so i followed the same principal and named the abilities 'statXX'. instead of using the first three letters, i felt it more appropriate to use the most phonetically similar three letters. statFAR doesnt make much sense, but statFRM can (hopefully) be easily recognizable

as for the combat skills:
statCUA = (Combat) UnArmed combat (it was agained my better judgement to name the property statCUC)
statCMC = (Combat) Melee Combat
statCMM = (Combat) MarksManship
These three are less intuitive, but they're usually abbreviated two letters, so throwing a C for combat in front of them made sense to me.

That's it for now. again, if anyone needs something or has suggestions, just ask.[item]linkhat[/item]

Edited the note I originally created on the "stone page. I added back when you could count crafts that required specific type of stone with fingers on one hand. Now there are too many crafts to be listed that way in my opinion. It now says:

Crafts that require specific type of stone exist. Notable ones include Bone Clay, (feldspar) Flint & Steel and Purple Pigment (cinnabar.)
Haven and Hearth Wiki (Maintained by volunteers - test/verify when practical. Forum thread

Basic Claim Safety (And what you’re doing wrong
TL:;DR: Build a Palisade with only Visitor gates.)

Combat Guide (Overview, PVE, PVP) (Includes how to escape/minimize risk of getting killed.)

Thanks. I might rework the stone pages in the future; it wouldn't hurt. most of the info is already there, its just a matter of doing it.

Again, Thanks. I updated the candelabrum page, as well as the wax candle page and the miner's helmet page.

PSA: is anyone willing to help me update the Hearth Fire page?

The information at the bottom needs verifying, and I dont have the time nor the skills to test most of the listed notes. updating that page would be quite helpful

E: While I'm here, I might as well mention that i've made the (executive) decision to add the glossary to the sidebar. I've been adding a LOT of information to the glossary, and hopefully if its on the sidebar, more people will visit it.

If people think that's stupid, please speak up.

Again, if people want anything or have any requests, please ask

Hearth Fire page verification

Post by vatas »

A spawned hearth fire (either by password or by random) has no soak and considerably lower hitpoints

Busted, at least for one created by spawning character into a Charter Stone. No soak on spawned hearthfire was legacy countermeasure for "hearth bombing" where people would repeatedly create alts with Hearth Secret to block areas. Currently creating new character (and Hearth Fire) requires significant effort so devs likely removed this.

hearth fires are destructible (soak=5dmg), but have a lot of hit points, and therefore will take a long time to break.

A built Hearth Fire has 250 hitpoints

You can destroy a Hearth Fire on your personal claim without leaving a scent.

I did some testing and these appear to be correct. "That is not your hearth." message on unclaimed Hearthfire and damage consistent with 250 hitpoints and 5 soak on Hearthfire in my claim.

If you attempt to destroy a Hearth Fire that is not on your personal claim, then you will leave a Vile Vapor of Vandalism scent

Don't have vandalism character that I'm willing to scent but I'm 99% certain this is the case.

Reincarnated characters start the game at their ancestor's Hearth Fire, if they exit via the ladder.

If you inherit using a Runestone in character creation area and use the fire (which is currently only way to leave), you'll end up at your ancestor's Hearth Fire. This should be highlighted, I've heard people simply creating new character from scratch every time they die because reincarnation isn't really explained in-game.

If you make a new Hearth Fire, the old one will become a pile of wood, ready to light into a fire for cooking.

I'm not in mood to "properly" test this but I've seen this happening many times before during this world.

Thanks. its help like this that really allows the wiki to prosper

Hey guys, I rebuilt the main wiki page. if it's stupid, or you want something specific on it, ask me. We've made quite a few changes, so I felt having the main wiki page link to Buildings, Structures, and containers all within four lines of each other was kind of silly, so i added some other stuff instead, such as Equipment Gilding and Symbel Items

A To Do list might be nice. I sometimes get to tinkering with things after updating an inconsistency and want to keep going, but not sure what needs a fix. (I get easily distracted doing these things... probably why I'm not working as a programmer.)
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Yeah, there's a whole laundry list of things that need to be done. Unfortunately, most of them are absolutely tedious.

If you just feel like fact checking and verifying articles, check here: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Category: ... ion_Needed

There's a few various tasks listed here, including the need to create some really important guides: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Ring_of_B ... ity_Portal

But more specifically, there are 3 or 4 important tasks that need to be done:
1) an absolute overhaul of the combat pages. Ideally, there would only be one giant combat page describing melee/unarmed/ranged combat mechanics. I'm hesitant to even begin work on that because of how often combat changes nowadays.
1.1) a guide to combat discoveries and the new combat accounts
2) updates to fishing
2.1) all the baits/lures/poles need to be updated
3) I created some properties to allow for us to document gilding objects in the Infobox, l but it's super tedious to add that info.
4) I want to update each individual tree page to have a picture of its board/block type, as well as all its relevant tree infobox data, so we can auto generate tables.
5)a guide to variable foods/FEPs. A guide that answers the question "why do my foods have different FEPs?"
6) we really need a coherent guide to personal/village/realm claims.
6.1) we need to add the realm blessings to the realm page. I created a table for it already, but I just don't want to add the info.
