Something that could help (but wouldn't fix the problem completely) would be to remove the ability to wear a piece of gear unless your stats exceed the bonuses that it gives
For example, if a Dhelm gives +15 mc and 15 str, you might need 30 mc and 30 base str to equip it.
If thanes give +25 mc, 15 agi and 25 str, you'd need 50 white mc, 30 agi and 50 str... etc
It sucks for real low level mains, but it would stop the no-effort geared alts while also giving real characters something to work towards in terms of stat gains

does this also imply that you cannot use gilded clothing (cooking +10 for example) without having double the stat required?

Hard to say how Jorbtar would treat it, but I'd aim it more towards the combat-related stats if it were me.Kirche wrote:does this also imply that you cannot use gilded clothing (cooking +10 for example) without having double the stat required?
So, STR, CON, AGI, CHA (thanes rings), Marksman, MC, UA
The main problem is that you can't differentiate decent characters from alts based on the gear that they're wearing at the moment and it's incredibly easy to boost these low-tier characters using combat gear to make them fairly effective for what they are. I'd like to increase the base investment needed for these rage alts so that they aren't as common or as effective as they currently are.
Sure, fresh spawns will always be able to body-block but there would be less incentive to bring out alts when the person has access to a main that could actually contribute something more

Re: Stop the geared rage alt meta
I'm not sure i see the issue with 'rage alts'. Dedicated combat alts have always been pretty central to this game, are you complaining that the barrier to entry for meaningful pvp is set too low? I think the system is working great if skilled players can succeed in combat, even on low statted characters. Grinding higher stats shouldn't be the main deciding factor in player vs player conflict. Also, why do you care what a fighter alt is wearing? If someone wants to throw a bunch of gold away making thanes and a d-helm for their 15 uac alt, they should be able to wear thanes and a d-helm on their alt.
(once and futue king btw)

Mainly it's annoying because of how hard it is to call targets and switch targets to begin with, and having fresh spawns in gear running around to disorient and misdirect people just adds to the clusterfuck of it allMrBunzy wrote:I'm not sure i see the issue with 'rage alts'. I don't think 50 base in stats is much to ask tbh

Hope you realize that rage alts is the only way currently for shitters and weaklings to participate in PvP and actually do something meaningful. 3/10 wouldn't nerf

How would this change anything?razfen wrote:Hope you realize that rage alts is the only way currently for shitters and weaklings to participate in PvP and actually do something meaningful. 3/10 wouldn't nerf
It just increases the investment slightly past buying rage and slapping on gear, or worse, spawning an alt and slapping on gear to buff the appearance of numbers

Some items should only be wearable by characters over a certain amount of XP.
I don't know how bottable that is right now, but wasn't that mechanic implemented precisely for stuff like this?
