If they can't afford good teeth, how do they expect to fetch a good price at the market?JTG wrote:Here you go ferinex. This is what the white man will be. He is clearly white due to the monocle and tuxedo, not to mention the pearly white teeth. Things those poor negros cannot afford.

Quite apart from the fact that a number of people in the word see it as not bad or even as a good thing this particular symbol is seen as a very bad thing in certain countries who have gone so far as making it's use as close to illegal as they can - I would be worried from a legal aspect (since this game is, I believe, accessible from those countries) than from any other aspect.
As it happens this particular symbol is one of if not the only symbol that is treated this way, however it _is_ treated this way and harping on that other cultures treat it differently does not change how it is viewed in countries that see it as an affront to their nation or culture.
Just because something is not offensive in one place doesn't make it OK to use it somewhere it is seen as offensive. Using it to insight offence is clearly fair dinkums but one should expect to be reprimanded for it and if one isn't then it is likely that one will keep using it if it does manage to offend a minority or else get bored.
Just my tu'pence.

Okay, I don't want to argue politics, but arguing history is somewhat safer, and this statement just confuses me. AFAIK, political correctness in the modern sense didn't even exist back then (although there would of course have been contemporary analogues). Would you please explain how political correctness contributed to the rise of Nazi Germany? I've always seen it attributed to: 1) the nazis playing off the widespread antisemitism that already existed in Germany (and, for that matter, much of Europe), 2) extreme (and legitimate) disaffection with the Treaty of Versailles, and 3) general unrest caused by the Great Depression, which, thanks to the hyperinflation caused by governmental irresponsibility, hit Germany particularly hard. I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple, but I'm also sure political correctness wasn't anywhere on the list.loftar wrote:Why do you think nazism took such a hold in Nazi germany if not for political correctness?
Or, if you're talking to how it got and maintained such a firm grip on the country once it was established, I'd like to point out that "If you say this, you're a traitor to the state and can expect a visit from the Gestapo" is rather an different animal from "If you say this you're a jackass". And also that, whatever else they were, the Nazis were master propagandists, which doesn't really touch on political correctness one way or the other.

River: They don't live in Germany, they live in Sweden (iirc). It is not illegal to own/display swastikas in Sweden, and therefore they are breaking no laws by which they can be punished. If Germany wants to ban every game in which it is possible to draw a Swastika, they better start taking away peoples' pens and papers too.

Better lobotomize everyone too, in case they have bad thoughts.

That's not the case. They just arrest the person for his or her expression.Ferinex wrote:River: They don't live in Germany, they live in Sweden (iirc). Anyhow, i guess it's clear to me now. The devs don't care if people turn the world into an eye sore and would rather burn the game instead of trying to keep it an enjoyable place.

Certainly not. I thought I was clear about that part [at least in some of the footnotes or footnotes of the footnotes :)], but maybe not. What I meant is that I'd rather burn the game than imposing artificial censorship in it, while on the other hand, I'm more than happy to provide in-game tools to both facilitate and prevent people turning the world into an eyesore, and I'm hoping that is what will make it an enjoyable place if implemented correctly. :)sami1337 wrote:Anyhow, i guess it's clear to me now. In the past, I've been shaping my mines in the shape of swastikas as well. It would be terrible to remove people's freedom to do that to their own mines. It would, however, be good to provide tools for the owner of a mine to prevent others from turning his mine into it.
