What the fuck, why would anyone do that?shubla wrote:NOOBY93 wrote:yeah im not gonna be touching any capacitors, really paranoid when it comes to that as well, on top of being scared of destroying my laptop
it's a good idea checking on youtube about my laptop model, will do that
btw how do you replace thermal paste? Did you un-solder the processor from the motherboard, put the paste, then resolder it?
Yea, exactly like this
dont do it
If you bring it to shop make sure that its good shop with good guys.
That they properly disassemble it and clean everything.
It may be that they are lazy and stupid jews that only take your money, apply some pressured air to your keyboard and give it back to you, saying that they did complete cleaning to it!

Re: Help me clean my laptop
My fan was really loud and cpu overheating. I grounded myself then took laptop apart and wiped off all dust with anti static cloth. Took apart fan and some dry black charcoal looking shit fell out of the socket of fan. Stuffed the hole full off axle grease and it hasn't made a noise ever since and temp is always cool.

If ur gonaa use canned air do it somewhere with low humidity like an air-conditioned room cuz the air comes out of the can so cold it can suck moisture from the air and it will condense on your computer parts.

Bad advice. The two common materials for rubber gloves are latex and polyurethane. Both have high static capacity. Just think of a balloon after rubbing it on your head. Any electronics supply will have gloves for sale that are static free. You can also hit up Amazon, Newegg, etc. for such things. (And they're pretty cheap for limited use.)dafels wrote: you can use rubber gloves if you are 2 scard when youre doing it to have some protection from static electricity
Get a ground strap. A lot of people say they've never used one, but all it takes is blowing up a $200 processor before that $5 strap looks like it would have been a good idea. If you feel the need for gloves, spend about the same on some anti-static gloves.

This is a top tip! I have a a collection of screws and little metal things i have taken from many laptops and other electrical items because i simply forgot where they belonged when it came to putting things back together..ricky wrote:just a small protip: if you decide to disassemble your laptop yourself, take pictures of every step so you know how to put everything back together.

Re: Help me clean my laptop
I would suggest this too, but I did recently have my hands on a HP laptop which was thus constructed that the fan was pretty much the "innermost" component, and the entire laptop had to be torn down around it, in which case the risk of snapping some of the fairly delicate chassis parts is only really worth it in case it's necessary. Not that I wouldn't do it if necessary, but even I have to admit that laptop/phone parts are tiny enough that there's always a risk of breaking some little thing. Pretty retarded construction, though -- in my own ThinkPad, the fan is directly accessible under a screwed cover.dafels wrote:disassemble your laptop and clean it out
And, I mean, if you really haven't done anything else, just blow really hard through the vents. It's not the ultimate cleaning solution or anything, but it's not like it hurts, and it might at least make whatever problem you're having go away for a while. Laptop vents are usually small enough that you can get pretty good pressure with just your lungs.
I can pretty confidently say there's no danger whatsoever in a laptop, as it's all low voltage stuff. The power-brick handles all the high-voltage stuff. Even in the odd chance that you have a CCFL-lit screen with a high-voltage inverter, it's not like it's going to have bulk caps on the high-voltage side holding an amount of charge that would remain over any significant amount of time.NOOBY93 wrote:yeah im not gonna be touching any capacitors, really paranoid when it comes to that as well

Re: Help me clean my laptop
also never blow into a fan with compressed air without holding it tight.
do not make it move with the compressed air, cuz its an electric motor that can generate power as well as use it.
you could fry yer motherboard.
