What kind of sick rituals I need to make, to create a game like this one?
Do I need to learn all the programming languages and start reading biology books?
Seriously, I am a noob dev.

Edit: I became a QA automation eng lol, I do game dev as a hobby tho.

If your end goal is building a game like Haven then just give up, it has already been done multiple times and Haven is the only one to really succeed in it, having a pretty consistent playerbase over the decade, but even Haven struggles in many aspects
If you just want to build something and you want to jump right into learning how to build stuff, https://thenewboston.com/
that guy has some tutorials. If you want to work as a java programmer but don't want to go to university for it https://www.coursera.org/specialization ... t-oriented
get that certificate.

There's learning programming, and then learning to program. Learning to code is easy. A 10 year old can learn it. Learning to build complex system takes time. Take a deep breath and have patience.
If you want to do a single player game, I'd suggest checking out some of the things that give you an easy start, too, such as GameMaker or RPGMaker. You can focus more on the design and learn some programming techniques in between the design. You can do some amazing things with these two and not need to learn a lot of code or worry about some of the more complex issues that working directly with the underlying code requires.
As far as learning to design games... well, I started out with Dungeons & Dragons and other pnp RPGs.

Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Unity is fairly user friendly and powerful, and you can use it for free for non-commercial projects. And it uses C# for scripting, which is a decent beginner language and can serve as background for learning C++ if you decide to really get serious about game development. But yeah, you should forget about making any kind of MMO before you make a couple complex single player games.

If you want to learn Java I suggest some free courses from the University of Helsinki.

The perfect scenario would be if he made a single-player or private-server version of haven.Potjeh wrote: you should forget about making any kind of MMO

Start small.
Make a program which rolls dice... you'll find yourself go ogling how to make variables and how to do random integer results.
Rinse and repeat with larger and more complicated projects over ten years, ensuring you remember everything from the previous one.
Alternatively, spend ten years getting a good career position and thrn pay somebody to do it properly for you. That way, it won't be a waste of time when you realise you still can't program after ten years.
The latter is me.

Pretty sure C# is more like a background for learning Java than it is a background for learning C++Potjeh wrote:Unity is fairly user friendly and powerful, and you can use it for free for non-commercial projects. Nah, syntax is pretty much identical to C++. The higher concepts are more Java like, sure, but then you're not really gonna be concerned with those as a beginner.
