It plays more like a cooperative game, doesn't it?
Does the gameplay really leverage the MMO platform?

It's an online game that multiple people can play. How is it not an MMO?

It does count as an MMO. The world is consistent, there's only 1 server, anyone can eventually end up on another part of the world. It is possible for every player in the game to be in the same location at the same time. There are cities, villages, and hermits (your guilds, clans, and solo-players respectively). Some tasks are only (reasonably) accomplished with the aid of others but can technically be accomplished by 1 player (troll/mammoth killing for example).
World 12: Quit at some point.
World 11: Community Fair Worker
World 10: Co-Founder of the Northern Kingdom, Resident of Emerald City, Founder and Mayor of the Hole of Glory, RamZ's Art Emporium at CF, Member of the CFL Rams.
World 9: Founder of SnoopVille, Resident of Emerald City
World 7: Hermit and Neighbor to a dead Korean

MMO is literally short for massively multiplayer online.

this game has hundreds of people playing at once. its an MMORPG.
Newbie and noob do not mean the same thing.

Neither do figuratively and literally.
