think its possiable with the multi hurricanes in the gulf of mexico area sucking up and droping massive amounts of water, shifting pushing and pulling weight like a giant vibrator working the plate like wiggling up and down on a stuck see saw?
i came up with this and just thought it makes sense lol
i asked in geology forums days ago no reply mabye thay working on it lol or its retarded question
can energy travel that far in ground with molten magma under it absorbing the energy or would lifting that much water casue the ground surface to slightly bounce back up and down
lol i wanted to post here and idk know what so this

Re: weather/earthquake theory (hurrcains caused mexico rumbl
I was wondering if it would be possible myself with a fault line that was on the point of shifting, and how much of a storm surge it would take. A small nuclear explosion (bigger than the WW2 bombs, but not much bigger if I remember reading about it years ago) is enough to set off a quake, after all. Several 6.0+ quakes in Oklahoma were blamed on hydraulic fracking. I don't think the math models are there, though, on fault shifting from man made or natural shifts in tectonic pressures, such as large explosions or sudden shifts in mass, as they're not good enough to fully prove how dangerous fracking is in fault zones. (Not good enough to fully disprove the "bad science" that fracking is safe.)
edit: as an aside, I did find this article about "mysterious lights" accompanying the quake: http://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/s ... e_09112017. I found a repost of it on freedomoutpost.com and linked the original.

ohh thats interesting very good post, followed a few links and got to the main paper on the lights earthquake lights
and found its cause of very fast build up of stress, like say a few hurricains messing with the plate lol im more convinced now lol
my freind is conviced it was trump and harrp that did it lol i dont like trump but thats insane

I think the weight of a couple of inches of water on a couple of miles of rock is negligible. The thing with explosions and fracking is that they're very sudden, while any weight changes from rain would be very gradual.

yea true, thats prob my biggest flaw in this theory, which is kinda the whole thing lol

I'm not familiar with the geology of that area, but fault lines can be found at meters below the surface to tens of kilometers below. The pressure change needed to set off a quake varies based on rock composition and depth.Potjeh wrote:I think the weight of a couple of inches of water on a couple of miles of rock is negligible. To note, large nuclear explosions (in the megaton+ range) are enough even at the surface to set off quakes. While that's a lot of energy, a storm surge can certainly contain that much pressure in the water being moved, but it's not likely to be concentrated into one area enough.
Fracking is adding pressure over time via volume of water and the pressure. Add in that the whole object is to break apart rocks leaving the section of ground being pumped for fossil fuels unstable. Major storms can do similar to unstable surfaces by eroding a lot of soil.
Is it possible? I think so. Plausible? Probably not. At least not with the storms we've seen in recorded history. Anyway... the quakes caused by a storm would be during or after the storm, not before.
