I was AFK when it went down, but I'd fenced off a group of cattle and was getting ready to tame them. I should have expected the server to choose NOW to crash.

Will there be a rollback? I've heard of such things, but I'm fairly new, so I've never experienced one.

There shouldn't be a rollback. Paraphrased from something I recall loftar saying once, you'll only get rolled back now if the data your stuff is saved in happened to get corrupted. That's generally pretty rare, so you shouldn't worry too much.

Now, back in the bygone days of yore, I think the map saved every area over the course of an hour at some sort of staggered interval, so you were almost guaranteed to rollback a little bit... which led to people duping things, intentionally or not, and losing others because map data and character data saved differently. That hasn't been a 'feature' for quite some time, though, I don't think.
