About Paving

Post by sMartins »

I don't like that much square paving, most of all for small pathway and aesthetic purpouse ... I like much more dirt path, but of course then grass will regrow.
I was thinking to add a feature that consider the last tile you set on the border to decide if the tile should be squared or segmented like happen with dirt.
I don't know how to explain .... lets' say you pave a tile, ok then it will be squared like it is now, but if you add dirt (or grass, or evrything) to the adjacent tile the border of the paving in that diretion won't be anymore squared but segmented like it happen with dirt now.
So we can have control about which border we want, squared or segmented.
Let me know if you can understand what I mean :D ...

I'm catching your meaning, and I like the idea. In world 9 my village was a slightly larpy base with diagonal paths with gates at the corners rather then the middle sections. Angled paths are not very pretty even with nice paving, its just too jagged. So +1 to paving functionality expansion.

i wish desire paths could form where you walk a lot in grass or other nature paths.

in other words. non paved tiles with a lot of traffic should become something akin to animal paths.

that'd be awesome imho

I would like if the server would track movent statistics per tile and use these to form and maintain dirt trails - and overgrow them when usage ceased.

That'd be pretty neat. It'd make the world feel a little more "lived in" so to speak.

Are you referring to the various tile transitions, and that you would like to choose between them? Not sure I understand the request.

Too much work for too little ouput, I'm afraid.

Yeah basically, the paved tiles are the only ones that stay always squared, give us the ability to choose, based on the last tile we terraform, if the results would be squared or segmented like with dirt.
If you pave a tile with stone, bricks, etc.. that tile would be squared like now it is, but if we add dirt,grass,etc.. to the adjacent tiles, then the stone tile would not be squred in that direction but with a transition ....
