Yes, the server has crashed.
It will be restarted hopefully soon!

Apparently Haven and Hearth servers lack automatic restart system which can be a problem since the game has only two devs, both who require sleep. I assume they have some sort of alarm system but I doubt people are most effective at fixing software errors when waking up in the middle of the night, likely in a bad part of sleep cycle.

As far as I've understood, automatic restart system wouldn't be too hard to implement but Loftar allegedly wants to fix all crash bugs as they appear. There are positives to this, if server would automatically go up as it was before the crash it could crash again in minutes, then come back again and crash after a minute which can potentially be even more annoying than server simply being down. This could be caused intentionally by particularly misanthropic and dedicated griefer who found crash bug or some unintentional thing causing server to repeatedly trip down (theoretical example: someone managed to overcrowd their animal pen in a way that animals stack on top of each other causing server to go "does not compute")

Yeah. Loftar has the server message his phone any time there's a situation. I think he even mentioned some of the remote stuff he can do with a phone app during one live stream. (*at least, if I recall correctly. Seems like that was around the start of w8 or so when he last talked about it.)

As far as I've understood, automatic restart system wouldn't be too hard to implement but Loftar allegedly wants to fix all crash bugs as they appear.
No, it wouldn't be hard to implement, but when your software isn't considered stable, any crash or bug state has a risk of corrupting the save data. That's why he won't do it. (Pretty sure that was mentioned in the same live stream.) A 10-30 minute rollback is reasonable for most people. A few hours is bad, but hey, life sometimes hands you duds. Days or losing the whole world? RAAAAEEEGG!!!!!11
