Re: Claims should only gain presence when the character is o
The issue is that it'll take several hours (as you'll have to bash the shield first) to destory something that, best case under the current regime, took 5 minutes (effort, 8h5m real time) to be created. Which is a strange exception of the general H&H concept that it's easier (time wise) to destroy stuff than it is to make it.LadyGoo wrote:If you hate claims so much, just make a palisade with a claim + alt with vandalism.
Thus the request to add a hoop to jump through in case one wants to maintain remote claims.

If claim is close, it doesn't matter. If claim is far, it will take longer than 5 minutes, probably multiplied by multiple trips (or even road building time invested).Granger wrote:The issue is that it'll take several hours (as you'll have to bash the shield first) to destory something that, best case under the current regime, took 5 minutes (effort, 8h5m real time) to be created. - Put claim
Come back to make it solid
Shield have to rise up
Everytime You expand, shield is being decreased

The problem is that the hoop really isn't going to be any actual hoop to jump through, just another "alt spam" excuse, at least if the claim is truly meant for something. And you can't really reasonably police account creation with only two devs and no support staff to monitor such things.Granger wrote: Thus the request to add a hoop to jump through in case one wants to maintain remote claims.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Solving it with an alt would be more time consuming as you would need to login yet another character, build fortification in case you want the alt to use a study table, ferry new curiosities toward it from time to time and actually play the alt to gain XP to be able to study these...MagicManICT wrote:The problem is that the hoop really isn't going to be any actual hoop to jump through, just another "alt spam" excuse, at least if the claim is truly meant for something. Yeah sure, because it is not easy to just fill an alt study desk which can be in main plot, with only poppies and just send it there, which is waaaaay cheaper and time consuming than using an actuall character to:Granger wrote:Solving it with an alt would be more time consuming as you would need to login yet another character, build fortification in case you want the alt to use a study table, ferry new curiosities toward it from time to time and actually play the alt to gain XP to be able to study these...MagicManICT wrote:The problem is that the hoop really isn't going to be any actual hoop to jump through, just another "alt spam" excuse, at least if the claim is truly meant for something. Travel to put claim, then coming back to activate it and then wait for shield have to rise up with addition to it being decreased each time You expland it's area of cover.
Oh experience? Pretty please, if You really believe that, then You live in illusion. Building up a cabin with small pali is not a problem once claim generated enough shield

Re: Claims should only gain presence when the character is o
random idea related to this
multi claims is needed by alot of players
but i personally have taken advantage of useless massive claims doing nothing
claim size and numbers chould be limited by avg between some stats (size counted over all the claims that char owns)
and get exponentially harder to maintain over 10 or something
at least alts whould have less impact and chould still own a far amount of area if work at it

I can't undestand why are you discussing this so long? The suggested idea is retarded (as most Granger's ideas). Why do you think that everyone should play your style? Claims designed ok and pretty fine. If you want to destroy claim then there is new mechanics called 'siege', if there is some claim which is not used at all (because you think so) you can simply place a wrecking ball and destroy it.

I found current mechanics fine and not broken. I dont know why we should have more pain in the ass. To get less players or what? All your problems can be solved by current in game mechanics.Granger wrote:Why do you?DPblH wrote:Why do you think that everyone should play your style?
