Many of you would probably agree that the current satiation system needs work. It seems that it is supposed to encourage diversity with what you eat, but having tea, beer, wine, and milk allows you to completely negate the purpose of satiations. Nowadays people just feast on cheese (does cheese really have to be THE endgame food? a discussion for another thread.) When eating a piece of q250 sunlit stilton, the total feps = (500 base fep) x (1.25 cheese satiation) x (1.25 food satiation) x (3.5 pepper(q250) bonus) x (3.0 hunger bonus) = 8203 feps. That isn't even counting symbel bonus. The current system allows too much stacking for insane amounts of fep gain.
What if the current satiation system was replaced with something similar to the numen system? You would be given 3 food choices, giving a large fep and energy boost to the first choice. Eating any of the food choices randomizes the 3 food choices, while eating the first choice also gives you a "food-numen" point. The higher your "food-numen" score, the better food options you would be presented. This means that a new player would only be presented options like roast rabbit or pitbaked roast, while an advanced player would have the options be expanded towards something such as cheese or jotun's morsel. By giving a large fep boost and energy boost to the food, a new player wouldn't have to worry about ruining their hunger bar by trying to restore energy if they are just eating things the first food choice.
I recognize this system also has its flaws. What would be a way that this system could be flexible enough to allow a player to go after only a couple stats, rather than be forced to gain every stat? I would like to know what your feedback is.

Re: Satiation Rework
what's your problem with satiety exactly ?
that people can reach stats so high ? I don't see a problem with that , the amount of work needed is insane.
The food you're supposed to eat is actually quite diverse depending on the stats you want to grind. (for crafter , warrior not so much)
You don't need to eat cheese before a long time and even with cheese there is different choices.
Unless you have 5k+ stats , but do you really need the game to be balanced for such stats ?
With your system there is absoluely no brain matter involved , just a lot of grind.
Also , a new player doesn't have to ruin his hunger bat at all , he just need to use his brain.
My only problem with the current system is how much the quantity of food you can produce matters the most when it should be , in my opinion , the quality.

Re: Satiation Rework
The problem isn't lying in satiations, maybe only high quality symbels makes the bonus to OP but the problems is hidden in the fact, that at certain level, You can almost eat infinitively, where infinitively stands for how much good food You can produce/buy/get/whatever. Salt is even becoming unimportant even here.
While I agree brain is now involved, new players probably will ruin their hunger bar probably. Save for the new world where everyone will ruin it. Unless, alts.

Re: Satiation Rework
there are a few food now that allow a new player to not ruin his hunger ...
I won't name them , players have to search themselves , and that's what I really like about the current food system.
There are a ton of possibilities and if you search enough you'll find some hidden gems.
Yes infinite hunger is a problem.
quest or charisma are the problem tho , not the food system.
That's what I was complaining about when I say only the quantity matters ...

The food system will be reworked.

Re: Satiation Rework
if you ask me, satiations need to make sense. like why in the hell would pancakes sate berries?
you could also put drinks in their own satiation category. so you cannot instantly reset a food satiation and the drink satiations need time to recover.
thats all that needs to be done.

I usually like your decisions, but, as the combar rework, It might happen that you change something that isn't broken. I think the system has a really cool concept as it is now, the main problem is some limitations, like no drinks for some statiations, and some numbers. Can you, at least, share your approach to the problem before effectively changing it? This is one important mechanic for a long lasting world.

I agree, there needs to be a correlation between the quality of food eaten and character's stats. Eating 100 cbs of lowq pies over and over again doesn't add anything to the game.
Easy solution is to make food only give FEP if FoodQuality > (CharacterStat x N), where N can be tweaked for a balancing reasons but I see it around 3-5. And then there is a possibility to further increase multiplier coefficient by decent table and satiations.
Satiations can also work as quality multiplier. It means that consuming q100 sausages at 100% can bring one up to 500(100xN) STR, while doing this at 50% wont allow one to surpass 250(100xNx0.5) STR.
Drinking satiations can work as a one-time bonus for the next food item. Wanna get more than 500 STR with those q100 sausages? Drink a tankard of beer first! With 125% bonus it is possible to reach 625 STR now. And this bonus resets every time related food item is consumed.
Just imagine how food market will shine with all those different foods of different qualities that actually matter!

Re: Satiation Rework
I'd try removing RNG mostly from satiations so you can't be screwed by bad luck. Eating cheese would always satiate cheese and restore X amount of some other food (which could be chosen by RND and/or by which is most satiated) Biggest problem with this could be that instead of eating just cheese, people would after this eat cheese and cheese restoring food.
