That is also a big issue I have observed. People (my friends) start longing for the game reset 6 months after quitting (1 year after the start, adding the normal playing time). However, after a year or more, they do not really want to come back. Young people are not that into this type of games + population is getting older and starts having life.

I think you are wrong, but if you aren't then there is not much point in further development of it.

Young people are not that into this type of games + population is getting older and starts having life.

There are still lots of survival type games being made and marketed towards the newer generation of gamers.
It may be more of a niche market but it definitely still has its followers.

Also, older initial population may be an issue, but look at a game like Eve.
Been around for 15 years and it has a massive population, the majority of which are 30+ years old. I see a lot of similarities between Eve and Haven, both game wise and community wise. I think Haven will continue to do just fine.

But seriously, reset the fuckin world already.

I have played both eve and haven roughly the same amount of time.

Haven is the better game. If I knew anything about marketing I would do it for free.

Does Haven need a reset?
Not sure. If your goal is the journey to be the best and be lord and king over others then yes, your play style demands that.
If your play style is hermit carebear, then you relish your own time and play, so no, a reset would not matter to you.

If a reset does happen, wait till after the new UI, test it. Add everything we love about outside clients, shut down outside UI.

Regardless of what you do, I will keep playing.

I think you are wrong, but if you aren't then there is not much point in further development of it.

Young in this context means = schoolboys/anyone with more than 2 hours of free time to play Hafen on weekdays. The nature of the game, right now, requires you to spend way more time to do anything more than just farming endless fields to feed 5 pregnant females of each 5(! and you're going to make them 6 soon, without any feeding tweaks) types of domesticated animals. Not to mention actually returning to the game and trying to catch up. You may want to produce the games solely for the teens, fine. But I have tried to bring some of them (4 guys 20-24) to the game and almost all of them did not even pass the stage of lighting the first fire. The only one left lost all motivation to play when he has realized that he cannot kill and raid without 5 man gank being after his arse.

Hafen is like a movie filmed on basis of some classical book that is being offered to porn addicts.
