Hey Hearthlings.
I need some help with the plant fibres. I figured out that they come from Spindly Taproots and such plants but I have two questions...
1) Are there specific places these plants grow/pop up? If so, where?
2) What are the other plants that you can get for plant fibres?
Sweet as.

Spindly Taproots and such plants...
If I get a penny today, 2 pennies tomorrow, 4 pennies the next, and it kept doubling, how many pennies would I have in a month (31 days)? PM me the answer to win a house!

To find the plants you must have foraging and raise your perception attribute and exploration skill. The higher per*exp the more plants you will see. Taproot is found only in forest and not in grassland or marsh.
For many uses you may use nettle for string, just as you may use spindley taproot. You cannot use nettle for fishing line.
You will also find wild windblown weed, and if you dry it upon a drying rack it becomes plant seeds. If you get hemp or flax and plant it when you harvest you will get plant fibre. And this fibre is also string.

Please note: if you are trying to use Plant Fibres in recipes, then the taproots and nettles don't count; hemp and flax are the two crops that generate the plant fibre needed for linen and the herbalist table.

The best way to get Plant fibers as said earlier in the thread is Flax and Hemp plants. so Go find some Wild WindBlowns Weeds and Then you need to put them on a drying rack (since i assume you dont have a Herbalist table since you dont have plant fibers) 2 days and youll be able to see what seeds you get.
But i started out wandering around looking for neighboors and sometimes you can find unclaimed ones. i like to pick one seed from each plant to get your own farm started and replanting what you take if you can. that way you dont have to wait some long for the drying racks and the random seeds that you might get.

Sometimes you can find unclaimed farm plots and get some seeds from those. It can be much quicker than gathering www and hoping that this time one of them turns out to be hemp or flax instead of more onions. When you harvest seeds from a field it only takes a few seconds. If you get them from www you have to go through the process of drying them and waiting to see what plant they turn out to be. You have to have the farming skill to harvest from a field, of course. If the settlement has been abandoned nobody minds you harvesting a few plants, but if it looks like it is in use it is more politic to take only the minimum you need which is, of course just one seed.
Hemp plants look like marijuana. Flax plants are the ones with blue flowers. Ominwar likes to replant the spare seed. (you will get two each time you harvest unless you are towards nature or towards industry). You get one to increase the crop and one to replant so normally you double your yield each time. However if the plants turn out to be high q it may be better not to replant. The owner of a q45 flax field will not be gratified to discover that as a noobie farmer you have just turned some of the plants into q3.

This is true. But also remember that a Highly skilled and stat farmer, will not plant his crops in an Unclaimed field. So My oppinion(and my rule of thumb) is if you do come by an open field that's unclaimed and/or abbanded, harvest what you Need and make sure you replant.GoogleBot wrote:You get one to increase the crop and one to replant so normally you double your yield each time. Case in point. I have a lil plot of ground and i need fibers for me Herb. Table. So as i'm looking for WWW in hopes to get me some fibers(the long way) I come across a Farm thats unclaimed and kinda shotty(as in there is decay and the plow rows are all haphazard) So I pick 8 hemp plants, gather the fibers and take the 8 worst seeds and then I use the plow that's there(after i put a block or 2 in it to fix it) and make another plow row and replant the 8 best seeds. Well as time passes and my homestead is looking sweet, i tend to go back there and doodle so to speak. The last time i went back there I had put in at least 5 - 10 seed plow rows full of carrots, onions, hemp and flax. Then put in 3-8 seed plow rows of grapes. then turned around made a winepress and fixed up the cart and kiln. To me this is rewarding, cause i have to wait for me crops to mature b4 I can get LP, and I dont wanna just walk through the Forest and kill trees left and right just to gain LP.
On another note. whenever I see other people's places, If i'm bored, I'll go there and try to finish thier construction projects. LOL At this one spot some dude had like a 4 by 4 claimed plot(which he was in sleeping with 2 urns. he had only started a plow field. So i went over there and plowed 5-10 seed rows, and then used all my excess(after coming back to the homestead) seeds to plant this guy a hemp row, carrot row, onion row and a Flax row. I been doing that now to all my neighbors since there ain't much to do at me homestead.
