Re: Give each credo static, balanced amount of quests

I understand giving some relief to players who lost their character but when it flips over into incentive to kill your character, it's a bad mechanic. Also not everyone knows about this or is able/willing to use it on character they have invested on to get Credos.

Possibly bit complicated (alternative?) idea: Credos that are prerequisites to Credo you're pursuing either don't count or count less for the credos completed for the calculation of required amount of quests.

I'd still prefer the individual balancing of quests. I wouldn't mind Mystic or Nomad having difficult quests (even Luck Based Missions) if they in return have small amount of them.

Something like this could make sense.

not only does it make sense, it wouldn't be hard to implement.

I like this idea. It relates back to the old beliefs system. One character probably shouldn't be both a miner and get such benefits and be a farmer and get those benefits. On the other hand, jordan has the right of it in that it encourages more alts. However, I'm going to make 3 or 4 characters, anyway, just because that's what I do, whether the game encourages making one character (EVE) or making 4-6... or more (WoW, EQ, others).

Other question is... can the current system be split like this? Would there be severe penalties if one person can't "do it all?"

I would like to inform you that most people who play eve have multiple characters/accounts. Alts are very encouraged by some game mechanics. And as the game is based in monthly subscription, devs encourage alts too!

I did say encourage, not force you into. I can think of a couple of other games that severely discourage any alts, but only a couple that don't allow any (without extraordinary measures to circumvent game rules).

Bump, updated the OP with the idea I got halfway through.

But by design, though. The intention is not that you should reach all of them on a single character.

I have to read OPs request as "please remove gains from death", and, perhaps we should, but I think the quest difficulty should scale with more credos.
But people DO reach them all on a single character, that's the thing. They create an alt, complete a credo, kill it off to get less quests, reincarnate, do another credo and so on until they have them all. This mechanic is creating a virtual suicide epidemic!

It's good for dead characters to gain some small thing, but having to do less quests just encourages alt abuse.

Well, I wouldn't want to kill my char but if would be fresh enough, I would probably get all credos on it since there's not much loss compared to gain when fresh char is made.

People usually make a fresh character, give them discoveries with parchments and feed them food they prepare with more skilled characters (if food is even necessary to complete whatever credo is being worked on). They don't usually kill off their main character.
