After playing around with the credo yesterday I have a few concerns.
My main concern is with how "cooking" is defined at the moment. I'm not sure if it's an oversight but making dough does not fall under the cooking category and so double yield, quality bonus and faster crafting speed does not apply when crafting it. The same goes for any cooking material such as butter, grinding flour, etc.
When the credo is applied, it's great. But ignoring the entire baking side of cooking seems a little 'off' to me.
Is this is an oversight? Atm the credo is only good for end-result crafts like buttered cave bulbs or red shred salads.

Cook credo doesn't apply to baking/dough or other mats

Crafting speed should have an effect. Yield and quality shouldn't. Getting a double bonus in the process of making bread (or anything else with an intermediary crafted ingredient like dough) adds something none of the other credos do.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

blacksmith has double output chance when craftingMagicManICT wrote:Crafting speed should have an effect. Yield and quality shouldn't. farmer increased crop yield
forager chance for double picked herbs
gem hunter chance to double mine out a gem
lumberjack increases yield for blocks/boards from a log
potter's extra chance to collect gray/pit/caveclay (stacks with forager btw)
Gardener double yield from garden pots
I'm thinking blacksmith credo makes your point a little invalid (but i thought i'd list all the credos that have double output chances

Re: Cook credo doesn't apply to baking/dough or other mats
I phrased my above statement poorly. I meant that a person shouldn't get multiplying output because you get 2 or 3 (or more) increased yields from the same credo while in the same stream of processing: grain -> flour -> dough -> bread. In the one case where bonuses do stack, it's because you get a bonus from more than one credo.
But maybe I'm mistaken on how the other credos work. I've done nothing but wander the forest doing random questing this world. I got bored of milking cows and tending large plots of farms and mining out a thousand (or more) tiles in a day. Derping around in the forest has, for the most part, been fun by just making up silly stories in my head while I wander.

what I think he is saying is that it does not have any chance to double when making dough nor does it have any chance to double when taken out of an oven fully baked. aka baked goods do not benefit from the bonus in any way.MagicManICT wrote:I phrased my above statement poorly. While the idea of 'chance for double' bonus seems to be nice at first glance... such a kind of game mechanic is known to be extremely addictive.

Extremely addictive? Bruh, do you even play or wander the forest also?Granger wrote:While the idea of 'chance for double' bonus seems to be nice at first glance... such a kind of game mechanic is known to be extremely addictive.

And baking is pretty much the main food source for a lot of cooks (I don't count cheese as cooking)

Sure, same thing there (as you listed here). Chance for double $result is a classical slot machine mechanic (proven to make these more addictive in an unhealthy way) and I'm appalled by jorbtar putting such attacks on the cerebral reward centers of their users into the game. This mechanic should be removed from the game.infectedking3 wrote:Extremely addictive? Re: Cook credo doesn't apply to baking/dough or other mats
I mentioned this to jorb other day, even suggested at least making credo buff oven fuelq or something. Just because dough is unique it sucks that so many foods are blocked off from benefiting whereas in other credos you get procs all the time. So hopefully at least next week he will apply the buff to doughs at least and make us happy. Also at this point im starting to think granger is just a troll like shubla suggesting removing features from a game he barely plays.
