Haven't played Rust, but have played Don't Starve Together. It's one of the tings that gets me there, too, along with the server progressing too far when you're offline for public servers. It looses it's "fun" factor.shubla wrote:I dont like the constant wipes in rust. Just when you get something built, there will be a wipe.

Re: The only world reset/wipe requests/discussion topic
The pace of Rust is very different. The resets only ensured no-lifers such as myself dominated the server and you honestly had a better chance of avoiding us by hiding in ruins later in the server life.
It's pretty much the same for Hafen. Two weeks after world wipe the top PvPers now will be the top PvPpers again. Top tier resources will be dominated by the powerful factions. That's what a world wipe is about in both games.
World wipes are not for the little guy. It's all about the factions vying for server domination.
I actually find it much more convenient to have access to loads of semi-active claims which I can loot. It makes starting a new character much easier. Instead of spending a week trying to get flax I spend an hour.
Ultimate solution to the issue might be to have a server where you limit each individuals playtime so the dirty casuals can almost keep up. In reality we will probably have a server which is relatively permanent and another server which wipes regularly.
For now the problem is that we have too few active players on the one server we do have.
One day.

In a game where it's more about the journey than the end goal and the whole point is to work hard for things, is this really that great of a gameplay feature? I'm the type that really appreciates decay, where an inactive player will lose everything he's built but still will leave a scar on the world that will last (less or available, an ugly patch of stone/grass for a while); rather than letting nubs have free loot, progress quickly, and then quit once they hit the q grindJalpha wrote: I actually find it much more convenient to have access to loads of semi-active claims which I can loot. Limit each individual's playtime? Yikes fuck no, they already tried that 3 years ago remember?Jalpha wrote:Ultimate solution to the issue might be to have a server where you limit each individuals playtime so the dirty casuals can almost keep up. And 3 years ago I had break from haven. Despite not being casual.abt79 wrote:In a game where it's more about the journey than the end goal and the whole point is to work hard for things, is this really that great of a gameplay feature? Anyway, casuals shouldn't be able to keep up the pace with non-casuals, unless they group up on the level of communication and managment, they can work up with the numbers.
Also, I like ruins, which sadly decays and I don't mind noobs having free-access to low Q stuff. After all, they can loot all they want, without proper skills and stuff, they will go either down or stagnate with their looted goods.
I see so much complaining about how easy access sprucecaps have to stuff if they find inactive place. Yeah, totally, a week quicker progress in few hours. Reaaaaally much.

It’s impossible to deny the excitement and the rush of people during each wipe. The more people that can stay in that state of excitement the larger the community grows and the more people to kill. I think a server that has frequent wipes is a great idea

It will lose a lot more than gain. Wipe is excuse for 50% at least.TheDuke86 wrote:It’s impossible to deny the excitement and the rush of people during each wipe. Excitement is mostly with casuals, rush is mostly done by factions trying to be the first one to seize as much power as possible to try and dominate or at least work to have some handicap.
I can't deny two being combined for some and for some not.

The end game shouldn't just be about grinding quality though. For me once I hit a certain level of stats I start looking for other people. For various reasons, not all of them nefarious.
I also agree it's terrible to limit playtime and that casuals should just accept their place in the greater scheme of things.

weekly wipe lol. i guess we can say goodbye to dungeons being a thing because nobody will be able to defeat those dungeons the first week let alone the first month/s
see homo sexuality trending,. do not do that.
