Depends on what you mean by "Made in <country X>." Is everything sourced and processed in that country only? For food, yeah, the US has huge exports to other countries: rice, corn (and by-products), soy, wheat, vegetables, fruits. We also import a lot of food, too, especially fruits and vegetables. Most of the world relies very heavily on a regional, if not global, food supply.2d0x wrote:I am just curious about how many goods in the United States are actually produced in the United States (and not, say, China, Mexico, etc.).AntiBlitz wrote:...ironically, our country's president is an isolationist, so...
For manufactured goods, well, that's a different story. China is pretty close to the top in metal processing. From what I've read on the subject (and I was looking into mining and metal stocks a while back), it was cheaper to ship scrap to China and buy back refined metal than mine it or process it anywhere else. There were a few other countries identified as being potential growth locations, but it'd be a decade, and require some "regime changes" to make the location friendlier to industrial growth. (mostly in Africa, where China is trying to invest heavily.... I think they'll learn like we have: you just can't push national thinking onto people who still think tribally, let alone internal or global cooperation.) US corporations have spread out to a wide variety of countries when it comes to sourcing materials, though, as it's cheaper. For quite a few things, it's just cheaper for a wide variety of reasons: education, reliable supply chain, reliable workforce, etc etc.
Also, Trump is far from an isolationist. He likes to talk a big talk to his base, but he's buddies with some very rich Russians. A lot of people don't want to believe it, but the truth is pretty evident if you have even an inkling of what to look for.
And yet it isn't hard to learn. Even the biggest idiot can learn to fire a gun straight... that's why they get assigned to infantry when a draft comes around. Sniping a rabbit at 50 yards out with a .22 and no scope? Hard. (Hard because that's about the distance the rabbit has enough time to jump from the sound of the gun if your aim is off just even a hair...AntiBlitz wrote:if we get back to the gun chat tho, like hands down, i put a gun in your hands, and i damn near guarantee you couldnt hit shit, its not like the movies boys, it requires a little more finesse then you may think.

More interested in goods, not foods:MagicManICT wrote:Depends on what you mean by "Made in <country X>." Is everything sourced and processed in that country only? If I understood AntiBlitz correctly, he wrote about responsibility, not about the ability to shoot. It's one thing to shoot tin cans and quite another to shoot people.MagicManICT wrote:...And yet it isn't hard to learn. Not so hard. Using a truck-mounted machine gun to fire on an enemy position? Don't know... never been there, but to hear my uncle talk of it (Vietnam), it takes more balls than skill.
Excuse me, I don't speak English.

Re: america and guns
Guns are easy to use, point at the target, press the trigger.
I dont see how that is related to the topic of the thread though!!
I would also like to remind that china is the biggest exporter these days. USA also imports more stuff than it exports. World would not really miss them if usa was embargoed, but they would suffer a lot.
Pretty much only thing that usa exports more than it imports are airplanes, because there arent that many companies that make airplanes and boeing happens to be the biggest at the moment. BUT this is probably about to change! Russia and China for example have done a lot of promising work on new commercial airplanes, which may soon start taking the cut from boeing. Also there is airbus which would gladly take the boeings cut from the market, if something bad were happen to usa!!
I am assuming that majority of those imported aircrafts are for commercial use, not military.

who else in america gets a one month paid vacation? Sure, you might have to wait a few weeks to get that check, but you get something nobody else gets!

Ok, don't be an ass like shubla. We all now it exists. The question is: is Finland relevant to world politics? Do they even want to be? If not, what does any of their citizens care about what the rest of the world?Fostik wrote:Before talking about other countries please prove Finland exists.shubla wrote:Stupid americans!
Finland does have one thing going for them currently: best schools in the world. We could learn a lesson or two from them.

Its usually a Russian or an American who gleefully reveal themselves as geographically challenged even if its only a joke.
I am curious if they realize they are the thing that gets laughed at by anyone thats not a political normie.
