DF Is a great game, does require some time to get into though!!

Recently I played some civ.
And by some civ I mean like 40 hours of it almost non stop.

I first played as Arabia, and got completely crushed by Denmark as I only had 2 cities, I started falling behind in science and all other aspects of the game. So I had to give up.


The next game I got India and a great start, I quickly founded 4 cities and my empire was growing quite quickly. But then Sweden conquered 2 of them quite early in the game, as I did not have any army at all or even walls in any of them.
It took around 150 turns to complete wipe out Sweden.

After that there was a relatively peaceful period, until 3 AIs declared war on me. I started producing a lot of units and successfully defended against them, as some of them had their cities quite far away from me, resulting in logistical difficulties for them. I even managed to raze some of their nearby cities and eventually conquering Ethiopia's capital.

Soon after that I started to worry that others might invade me, as they had already attempted it, so I started to build some troops to scare them off. The chart above shows that I might have overdone it a bit. I had way larger army than all others combined. Eventually I researched all the techs and got science victory. It was not easy victory though, as some of them had lots of tourism output and some were building their own spaceships quite rapidly as well.

Overall its a great game I think. AI might be a bit dumb at times, but you can turn up the difficulty (I have played at King difficulty, perhaps I should take harder difficulty next time) or even play multiplayer. Though the latter one has same issue as many other multiplayers, the more people you play with, the harder it gets to get all of the players online at the same time.

Lol rekt. Moonlighter is a really fun game. grinding just got even more satisfactory tbh. And bad north looks good, haven't tried yet tho

I haven't played this game in months, years? well, not years. I am still very excited.
I suggest others to try this game out while waiting for W11!

Start of my fortress was not great.
Soon after embarking, a group of giant alligators attacked.
Alligators killed one dog and bit off my farmers left arm! Even though he only has one arm, he still seems to be able to farm, which is good. He also miraculously survived from the severe blood loss that occurred after the hand fell off, even though I had no means of suturing the wound yet.
Luckily the dog was a female, which I had two of (only one male). So I still have a breeding pair of dogs to make more.

In the image above, we can see the dead dog in the center, and arm of the farmer in upper left corner. Blood has already washed away with rain.

I was running short on coal so I got an idea of transporting some magma up so I can use magma furnaces and forges.
So far, the magma-project has claimed lives of 8 miners and 1 baron. And I have not been able to bring even a single load of magma up to my fortress.
Apparently walls kind of melt off and the magma leaks and kills my miners.

I guess I underestimated power of angry people this time!
I had only about 30% support which caused revolts, then a coup came and it was all over.
Next time I must build more army so I can prevent this from happening...
