How about having a forum for group discords?

Similar to custom client one, have a disclaimer that the discords are unofficial and use-at-your-own-risk. Removes the responsibility from the devs and makes it easier to find a popular discord server for your Haven gossip fix. There might be a default unofficial discord, similar to Amber client. Good server mods might pin interesting discussions, so as to make it easier to quote good ideas on the forums later.

I don't think it will have a profound impact on the forums, as long as the devs don't join (at least non-anonymously) any of the servers, because they will still remain the main method of communication with Jorbtar

You guys can use this discord : https://discord.gg/6yXNCJ moderated by Tuz and some other people, noone is going to get banned there unless he is being a very very huge asshole + no real money trading, no other rules really. It has like 1500 members and you will find everything you need about Haven there.

No its not.
Being part of the current discord server that you are is not very good for the game community.
Its toxic and its members make "trolling raids" to another HnH servers spamming stuff etc.
Supporting such servers ran by such people is very very questionable.

I still don't understand why you haven't done it yet. You have moderators on forums, so why not have them on discord also.
Discord provides very good moderation tools so something like trolling mentioned earlier is not really a problem.

You consider steam, but don't have even a discord yet. Its 2021, wake up Jorb!

And this all even while you run a MMO, in which the whole point is that its a multiplayer game with other people and a community formed by them!

I despise discord as a company because ofall the data they collect, lack of browser support etc. but that is something we have to live with.

I'm not sure that this is official position of server owners, for the other server dwellers it's not forbidden to join different servers and write anything.
