I just got one cave-in protected on my support, and it lost durability. Went down to about 42% durability. I repaired it with a single nugget and it went up to... 46? or 48?
That means I'd have to put in more than I spent to build the support in the first place, if it went down even lower than 40%.
This is with a wooden support, for the record. Haven't tried a stone support yet.
solved as of this thread.

Re: Mine Support Changes are Awful.
The change logs said they don't take damage.
I guess wood supports are mostly there to protect you if you make a mistake rather than actually let you mine. (even if the repair costs became sane that is)

Re: Mine Support Changes are Awful.
sometimes you gotta take the cave-in to get the sweet sweet ore. i was also interested in testing the mechanic.jorb wrote:... don't?Vigilance wrote:I just got one cave-in protected on my support
that's also one of the lamest responses you could've given because i'm pretty sure people don't want their mine supports to be made of tin foil and dreams. and if they are, at least have them repair at a fair ratio and not a ratio giving supports a cost of ... 16? 17? nuggets?

That does sound off. Will look at it.

Re: Mine Support Changes are Awful.
I think this change is actually just a good, prime, example of tedium that doesn't really need to be here. I think mine supports decaying off-claim is enough. I don't want to have my cave explode on my head because my support isn't actually a support if I lose minesweeper enough.
Maybe with a much more forgiving ratio it'd be reasonable. It really just feels like loftar forgot a 0, according to the repair ratios for other things.

Re: Mine Support Changes are Awful.
We can discuss the ratio, but in principle I think it's very reasonable that minsupports don't give you the ability to just mine away willy-nilly, paying zero attention to what crazy caveins you're digging into. Build more supports if you want to be more careless.
