High 'level' combatant against multiple lower 'level' ones

Post by Talvara »

Has anyone experienced this? how did it work out?

Personally... im not the fighting type. im actually moving my beliefs over to peacefull. but I would like to know how effective 'mobbing' is. Can say.. 3~4 way lower caracters take down a higher level one without suffering overwhelming casualties?

Please share your experiences and toughts :)

I'd imagine it depends a lot on the specific difference between levels, stats, equipment and whether there's stored initiative or not.

I'd imagine rift could quite easily dispatch as many lvl1 unarmed opponents as he wanted without them touching him assuming no stored initiative. I think I could as well.

4 lvl 50 unarmed however I'd imagine could take out a lvl 100 unarmed with equal stats fairly easily (they'd probably lose one or two to knock outs, but it's harder to murder someone when you're getting wailed on by a gang)

Also a whole lot of archers with stats split between unarmed (dodge) and archery could probably whittle down just about anyone with a lot of coordination and moving about to stay out of range.

I don't think that's even very hard against totally unskilled opponents. I wouldn't be completely astonished if a level 1 fox could do it.

20 archers with 100 marksmenship could fire against someone with 200 health and full armor and 100 melee using a sword and shield.. and i bet that 200health person could kill every single one of those archers..

It really does depend on a lot of factors.
I think theres a.. well "limit" on how unlikely/likely a person is to hit someone else.. i think you can at most miss ~95% of the time... atleast it seems that way to me... so 5% of the time even low level people will *hit* high level people... However high level people could be doing easily 20-30 times more damage and have 5-10 times more life....

Also instance attacks can GREATLY level the playing field... a lot of them have a higher chance to hit.. especially "knock his teeth out" which has 10X the likelyhood to hit, so even a low level can get a garenteed hit.. [and it does more damge then usual too.. 2/3str+weapon damage i think]
If you had a swarm of people attacking a high level.. Even if they didn't come with inititive.. they would likely miss enough to get some.. provided the high level was using something that gives it[dodge/shield/ect]

And.. ultimately.. people heal slow, and even high level people can be suprisingly fragile at times... so i certainly wouldn't say its "impossible" for low levels to swarm high levels, just very difficult.

Well, assuming he's got good armor, anyway.

Gah, my eyes slid right over that. Yeah, 20 damage blocked kinda takes the sting out of arrows. They might get him if they were all full martial, though.

while he hits them for a lot more damage and more often? i doubt even full martial would help them that much.
