No doubt no one is going to sail deeper ocean on a dilapidated vessel.
As far as i understood from arddaric's own word, knarr had at least 51% hp (displayed as 75% hp by client) right before disappearing. Custom client displays of damage never was an issue before. Although it may be a user error indeed, is there any chance to check server logs in order to make sure there was no bug (probably lag-related) involved?

Re: Knarr Disappearance
To restate Jorb's statement from "an Amber Client perspective", If I may: "...My point is that damage is only visible in 25% increments -- 75, 50, 25, dead. What your custom client displays as "25%" is the entire span from 25 to 00.0001...%.KitsuneG wrote:Amber client show Full Hp - 75 -50 -25 - dead.jorb wrote:...My point is that damage is only visible in 25% increments -- 25, 50, 75, dead. What your custom client displays as "75%" is the entire span from 75 to 99.9999...%.
What isn't clear is this: Did you see the exact moment when it went from 50% to 25%? And then it almost immediately it dropped? Or were you distracted and didn't realize how long it had actually been at 25%?
Jorb seems to be assuming the latter, and that very well could be the reality. But I don't automatically dismiss the possibility of the former.

There were no 25%, as i say it show up 75% (3 seconds later - knarr vanished) he not even hit further damage, there were no 50% or 25% or so. just from 75% to dissapear.
P.S. English not my own language but i can't understand how i say it more clear, almost everyone understand it right.

Re: Knarr Disappearance
To summarize I just has no words on developers reaction.
So Guys, people who know and believe me, it's not a user error, better build dock and be care. When people will die few more times, guess the thread will be up.

Re: Knarr Disappearance
I could be wrong. I have, however, never heard of any problem like that with damage display before. Testing it I don't see anything particularly strange.

Re: Knarr Disappearance
Globally there is no problem with displaying or anything else, the problem is that knarr was destroyed in few seconds as reported, like boat can receive numerous decay ticks in few second from cycling bug or something else.jorb wrote:I could be wrong. Is it possible due to server lags, or lack of testing deep sea decaying somehow?
Or maybe there are some hidden mechanic? We have tested that knarr will lose 25% of it's total hp in 10 minutes sailing deep sea. Is there some way to get more dmg?

Re: Knarr Disappearance
Testing this on a fresh knarr, I had a very smooth gradient of continous damage from 0 to 2500 HP damage, working entirely as intended. If there is a bug here, it is, at the very least, not naively reproduceable.

Re: Knarr Disappearance
Well, the custom client just gives a number to what the server sends and the ship gets "colored" as. It's nothing different than what the standard client does, just in a different means.jorb wrote: Perhaps you aren't supposed to sail around in a heavily damaged knarr? How do you know it took "a few seconds"? I, for one, strongly suspect user error, and too much reliance on custom client displays of damage.

Re: Knarr Disappearance
Jorb's behavior in this thread seems a little like

For me, it's not somekind of minor issue: as KitsuneG is well-known trusted man, if he believe there was something strange, I'll better be careful. And that means my own knarr sailings would be nervous instead of fun. And what is the reason of this whole new water, if ppl would prefer avoiding it?
As for the "so confusing" statements of OP - as told before: 75% on Amber's mean Knarr had 50-74% HP, and then <0% in just two hits. If something can damage knarr with 40-60% for hit, then there's no any display bugs (it could just be hit by 45% and then 55%). But the question was: COULD something do that damage?
So please, jorb, take it little more serious and give as a straight answer:
Is there something in game that can damage knarr for more then 1250HP at once?
Can server-lag issues take knarr in some rapidly-insta-dmg loop, where damage tick would apply over and over again in a second?
And if both answers is "no" - then:
What may be the reason of this mystery?
Waiting for your divine judjment with best regards.
