Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.

Re: Game Development: Perry Flotsam
Something like hunger reducing faster and increased study speed if you are behind might be alright. Although faster study would just increase the need for exp and curios. Maybe a rested exp/lp system like most MMOs do would work. Whatever it is the benefits need to be non transferable or else they'll get abused somehow.jorb wrote: [*] Additional catch up mechanics in the same vein as the one we added to questing last patch, by which players receive bonuses in relation to how far behind the global server lead they are. But honestly, as someone who is well behind the top of the charts, the thing limiting me from progressing the most is not having the ability or the time to create varieties of food/drinks to get around how brutal satiations are right now. It also feels really bad hitting the RNG 30% satiate on the first food I eat.

Re: Game Development: Perry Flotsam
If You really want catch up mechanics, do them by stage.
If character is new, it gains 80% stat gain bonus. 8% LP Bonus
If character has some stats but still is far away, 60%. 6% LP Bonus
If it's half way somewhere it's 40% bonus. 4% LP Bonus
If the difference isn't that high, there is no bonus (eventually 20% one, 2% LP bonus)
But there should be no bonus when You're very close. Those who started early or putted effort, should still maintain the top position, if You want to overthrow them, combine power of more people.
Catch ups mechanic reason to exist is to allow weaker/new ones to grow fast/big enough to provide a small threat. If several small threats join effort, they should be able to overthrow top one. Don't forget that any catchup mechanics might be used to produce smaller warrior alts quicker as well.

What those credo changes Jorb has been discussing on and off for some time?
Specifically: each completed credo add only 1 quest per level instead of 2, and Nomad credo only requires travel across your current continent.
These changes would be great.

I don't want excessive catchup mechanics because it doesn't make you competitive with the top it just devalues the effort that the middle tier of players put in by elevating everyone to their status without putting in the same amount of effort.

The 300%, 200%, etc. Basically, give people who don't need to eat often (presumably from less play time than others) a bit of a leg up in the attribute race. Maybe I've understood the purpose behind it wrong for all of this time.loftar wrote:I'm not sure what you refer to by "hunger mechanic bonuses".MagicManICT wrote:That was the goal of the hunger mechanic bonuses, yes?
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

This was a great patch. Keep up the good work Jorb and Loftar! Don't let people get you down.
