I've been looking around and playing around the mechanics, but it seems the only fun people have is griefing and all the drama that surrounds it.
Was that intended by jorb and Loftar?

Re: How do you have fun?
I have fun by hunting boars and bears.. I try to melee them. marksmanship is just to easy, and even UA is easy if you half-ass understand the combat system and get 50UA. (I can solo X lvl bears with 50UA easily. Must use water though.) But now I got 27 Melee, a Q22 Militia sword and I've been soloing lvl XII and XIII boars and I did 255dmg to a bear and sent it running.. lost it in the cliffs
Sadly. But yea, playing the game is fun. If you get bored.. where your at because it becomes routine then move like I do.

Re: How do you have fun?
This game pretty much covers most genres of MMOs, so I don't see how you could lose fun.
The way I see it, you can easily go ahead and make it adventure, set goals, make your own RPG (write your story on the forums or something, whatever), grief, build, play as an RTS (but with multiple people clearly...).
I think the funnest part has to be the village aspect. I'm sure that the whole "Wow, I can kill a lvl X bear" part is fun getting there, but I'd have to say the real thrill is in dealing with village relations (both inter- and intra-), fighting, playing with friends, making new friends, and 'splorin.
I mean it's really not that hard to have fun. I haven't figured out the combat system as well as I'd like so I'm not tackling bears or anything without a sling (you're right, it is indeed too easy)

I myself just have fun exploring and general survival. From what I can see this game is all what you make of it.

I have fun playing the game with the friends I've made, you're sure to go insane in-game without a few good friends.
I like apple juice.

Re: How do you have fun?
My friend and I are currently treating this as a co-op version of Harvest Moon (only, y'know, with bandits and wild animals in the forest...so maybe it's more like Dwarf Fortress). I imagine we might regularly interact with other players later, but for now, it's two-player.
As such, it's a matter of building a decent fort and being able to rebuild after someone decides they'd rather build a battering ram than a loom. Drama is for people who are social and/or haven't used the Internet before.
P.S.: I recall Jorb or Loftar saying that the game is intended, among other things, to be something of an economy sandbox. Thus the initial problems with barbarian hordes.

I enjoy playing it as a stone age harvest moon, though I sort of miss giving the townsfolk prezzies to make friends.

Re: How do you have fun?
So far I enjoy being a hermit and now I also go forth and explore a bit. I will start calling it Harvest Moon if I can drag a sheep back from the fields on the other side of the swamps and forests. A good distraction from many other games I play.
It only hurts for a little while, then you are dead.
