If he did, and it's documented, expect there to be a court case coming up. US courts don't like people named Jared... especially if being accused of sex crimes against minors, even more so when it involves pornography.

I've still seen nothing that provides any evidence of these things and the so-called statements are from 16 year olds are they not? Or they said they were 16 at the time and like I said earlier if all of these allegations are restricted to Washington or somewhere where the age of sexual consent is also 16 years old (as in, both parties are in a State where legal consent starts at 16 years old) then I am not really sure why people keep saying he was soliciting minors without any proof of this and the only statement was from an alleged 16 year old over the internet.

Is it a cool thing to do? No of course not, however, the guy obviously has some issues in his life but I don't think that warrants a total destruction of it without all the evidence to be considered. It should not be warranted for anyone.

In the US, you can have sex at 16 (depending on what state you live in mind you), but cannot create or distribute pornography (any nudes, basically).

I would assume ASKING for the photos and not getting them is a lesser crime than asking for them, getting them, and then holding onto them?
Or even just having them come into your possession at any point, even if they were deleted by you soon after.

Obviously asking for nudes from underaged girls is a crime, but is it seen as being just as bad as if you were successful?

Attempted murder can be just as bad as actual murder in terms of sentencing, so I'm wondering if it is the same sort of thing

These are the questions I am wondering about as well that would change the situation quite a lot. It was said that ProJared created private blogs or twitter accounts, something like that specifically for the purpose of sharing these risqué photos. It is my opinion that if someone were to receive any such photo under those circumstances in which they themselves created an account specifically on this private blog for the purposes of receiving these photos, can you really blame the individual for sending them? He probably assumed anyone creating an account to see such a photo would want more. Was it actually a one on one conversation between these people or were the photos posted in a private group, instead, for example.

And regarding what MagicMan said, is that really any pornography or more specifically child pornography? Because the distinction matters, it is not illegal for me to post a picture of a legal age adult online with their consent, in Canada this is 18 or older. I assume it is also 18 or older in America even in states with sexual consent of 16 years. But, that does mean if ProJared received any such photos from these girls or retained possession of them (either digitally or physically) then he could indeed be charged for this. I don't think it works in the opposite fashion though, as in him sending his photos and that may have been all he did.

Well if there are messages with timestamps then yeah? They just look at their current age vs when the messages were sent

Don't need timestamps on the images or messages if you can subpoena the records from the phone company, which if there are criminal charges filed, will be stop #1.

It's no skin off my back if the guy is innocent of any crimes or is guilty. My main problem is what Granger stated:

however, nothing funny or sad about it. It's just human nature. Using age to avoid doing correct police work, such as proving coercion, is sad, though. I remember being that age, though, and there is no number on when the libido kicks in--could be 14, could be 24.

Aint gonna be a case, since any random person saying it happened is just as damaging to your reputation as actually doing it.
