Constant crashing

Post by Sebthegrand »

I tried ambers, adernnes, purus and they all crash. I freeze up and get sent to my desktop. Wish i could explain it better but thats about all that happens, usually if i walk past a certain part of town or something it will crash but alot of the times its just random.

Unless you can reproduce with the official client: not a bug, please take it to the author(s) of the custom client(s).

Let me rephrase what Granger is saying: it's not something that we're going to help with in Bugs, which is reserved for game play issues and issues in the standard client. Troubleshooting should be taken up with a modder unless you can confirm that the issue is in the standard client.

Also, without general details or a crash report, it is difficult, if even possible, to troubleshoot a problem. For the purposes of this, try to use the base client and see what results are produced. Try to provide us with what information you can, such as hardware, software, and driver versions. See [urlhttp://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=39954]here[/url] for some initial troubleshooting steps. Also, if you're crashing to the desktop, Java should be generating a log file somewhere. Try to locate the file "hs_pid_err.log" somewhere on your drive, typically where you installed Java at.

99% of the time this is graphics driver related.

I agree, but without a log or other information, what kind of advice do you give?

Was just chiming in, need to see the hs-error file to confirm. A crash with no exception window (which is what he's describing) is like you said, a jvm crash that writes a log.

Look in the client folder for i.e. hs_err_pid file

Also you may edit in a new line in run.bat containing the word pause
that way cmd window stays open and might show errors
(rightclick on top bar of cmd window gives you editing tools)

Thanks for looking it over. Glad it was a straightforward problem.
