Re: gridlines?
lol, i feel your pain brotha'
Turns out you can shift-right click when dropping the plow, and it will automatically position it in the middle of a grid square/tile. Not a perfect solution, but it may make your life easier.
(Check out jackard's intro/manual... it's somewhere in the forums, i'm sure someone who knows what they're doing can link to it...)

Re: gridlines?
yeah, sorry i was kinda vague. I mean that you can place the plow so you don't wind up too close to a grid line and plow extraneous squares, and then just go roughly in the direction you want, one square at a time, and as you go the plowed squares behind you make essentialy a "grid line" or guide to go off of.

Re: gridlines?
Hit Crtl + L
This brings up the old land menu.
You can select a line of squares.
Hope this helps.
EDIT:
Damn someone beat me to it.

Re: gridlines?
And this is still rather controversional as you can't do anything while ctrl+L is open.sabinati wrote:use ctrl+L

Re: gridlines?
no but you can use it to draw a line to the tile you want and then press ctrl+L again without moving the mouse and click the tile, hope this helps
