Not to jump in front of live fire or anything, but off-hand I remember playing "dogs of the seas" a random pirate MMO. During its second and fourth, (wasn't around for third), incarnations it was absolutely bruitalized between different clans who were still fighting from the first incarnation.

Made it a slaughter-ground where you took a side, or scrambled for scraps. Just saying, one example.

Maybe I misunderstood the question? No one raise a handgun... I've a wife and kid... or plan to... something like that... if I can get her to log off the damned game.

EVE turned to utter shit and lost a ton of people because of all the goon drama.

Version without sarcasm: Big groups history and drama on forums creates a buzz about the game and draws new people in. I can't imagine how many people decided to start play EVE after the big heist or the BOB wars drama that got painted all over the internet.

Well yes, you can't really name any because big drama between groups is usually a good thing for an MMO (as long as it doesn't stem from broken game mechanics obviously). Since you want your game to get as much exposure as possible and you want it to speak to people's imagination, and nothing is quite as interesting as some good old fashioned skull bashing.

That's what Sabinati was challenging DatOneGuy to do. He made the stupid comments, so he should back them up.

Ignoring the history in H&H is like to running blind through a minefield. Some people get away with doing it for a while, but that's just because they are lucky. Imagine you are building your homestead and a well armed stranger approaches and tells you he's your neighbor. How should you react? If you don't care about history and wait to see how this person behaves toward you, then you could be taken for all you have. Any animal can learn from its own mistakes, it's the special ones that learn from the mistakes of others.
