Re: macros and what not
macros is the same as hacking, gaining a unfair advantage, while someone worked hard to get 15k to get its melee up, someone just clicked"on" sleep and got 20k, where is the balance ?

If (pulling number out of ass) 80% of the people who play a game use macros. Are you gaining an unfair advantage by using them, or are you simply leveling the playing field though?Skorm wrote:macros is the same as hacking, gaining a unfair advantage, while someone worked hard to get 15k to get its melee up, someone just clicked"on" sleep and got 20k, where is the balance ?

You has point, but macros should always be discouraged. Either by preventing the possibility for "automation" of something or implementing the missing "feature".DatOneGuy wrote:If (pulling number out of ass) 80% of the people who play a game use macros. As that is what most macros are; an automation of actions (mostly for a long period) or the automation/improvement of something that could/should be possible anyway (mostly used while actually playing, for example; an inventory-to-container macro).

Re: macros and what not
I'm competitive by nature and all I want to do really is to see how I fare against others and without an equal playing field that is impossible. But, everytime I want to throw a shit fit about it I remind myself that, in all likelyhood from the dev's point of view, the game is in testing and it is free... and I sit back, pick my bottom lip up and try convince myself that I am a better person for not macroing [trumpets and angelic choir here]

Re: macros and what not
It's true that they should be, but only to an extent. Like you said, some 'should' be ingame functions, but they aren't yet, and some are near necessary as you get farther (like a fast way to sort through things by quality) and until implemented are better macro'd and do nothing but save you a little time doing something that was pretty much a waste of your time. Does that free you up to do more things iwth your time? Yes. Does that mean you gain an advantage? Yes.Shagrath wrote:You has point, but macros should always be discouraged. However, if the other side is quite literally 'wasted time' with no reason behind it, who are you really hurting?
Sure some things like loom-macros and the like that are closer to bots than macros should be discouraged, but if they aren't, I'd rather try and catch up to those that do than sit back here wondering what the fuck hit me when one of them attack

Re: macros and what not
I actually made quite some macro's, only to see if it could be done, and not on my main (no, really, I dont like cheating).
I think it should be pretty simple to 'disarm' them, or remove macroers altogether.

Re: macros and what not
If you see a macroer it shouldn't be too hard to mess with them.
I've been testing one out recently and just made the whole thing image-based (pretty simple in AHK), but even then I see a bunch of holes.
As for loom-bots, for the most part unless they can properly place a loom, close them in construciton signs, get 15 branches, and fill their loom up. Now they're fucked.

Im pretty sure people are not macroing out in the forest... they are inside a house... with cupboards full of food... behind a brick wall.. you will never see them.DatOneGuy wrote:If you see a macroer it shouldn't be too hard to mess with them.
