I think it's server issue.
I've created my first Wooden Shovel. Wooden shovel requires 3 blocks of wood and 2 boards so i grabbed blocks and boards and clicked craft. Then i got a shovel, but resources were not used. I clicked craft again, and again i got a shovel, but this time resources were used. So for 3 blocks of wood and 2 boards i got 2 wooden shovels instead of one.

Re: Wooden Shovel - resource not used
Are you sure that you didn't have some container open that the resources for the first shovel were used for or something like that?

I'm not sure that I have a strong argument against sketch colors - Jorb, November 2019

Re: Wooden Shovel - resource not used
Any time you have a container or stockpile open, objects will be used from there first by default. Being near them, with the container/pile unopened, doesn't count*. You can change this by closing the containers or placing the objects you want to use as ingredients into the container. You can also force the "pick order" for ingredient objects at any time by picking up the one you want to use and setting it down, and then one that is highlighted. Craft ingredient selection is a "last in, first out" stack. (For the non-programming literate: as in stack of cards--last thing you put on top will be the first thing you pick up.)
*Note: for constructing anything in the 'build' menu, just having a stockpile close to the construction area is enough for it to be taken up as a part of the materials.
