Disappointed by the realm name change (the "falling players" one). This seems a far cry from the devs who SOLD us "devs suk" placards!
Population isn't even falling right now so it's not even time to be salty about this lmao.

I honestly would have laughed my ass off if they just changed the graph emoji to one pointing upwards (Then petition us for a proper name if they so desire). That would have been the greatest prank of the world. A golden opportunity was missed there.Tamalak wrote:Disappointed by the realm name change (the "falling players" one). What it was: an edgy troll joke meant to offend. It looks like it worked as intended.Pills wrote:really? Perhaps you should educate yourself on the recent history surrounding "white pride". White pride can mean many things. Searching for it on discord, I found this:

Bunsey had the right idea. White cow pride is white pride.

Re: Game Development: Dressed in Ermine
@loftar (and jorb): "Player Population" I think, was just a snarky view of what happens every world. Some people are here for that early world rush of build up and fight some fights over resources, but then someone wins, people get bored of the grind, etc etc, and the population slowly drops till it levels out. I get the creator side of it, too, as nobody wants to feel like they're being criticized. Every MMO goes through this, though. Granted, WoW has a lot more fanbois, they don't have quite a severe flux of players, at least in terms of percentages. However, with their longer expansion development time line, it still exists, just more spread out. Some MMOs have tried to level it out a bit more by having less aggressive expansions every six months, but they still deal with it. Can we call this an overreaction, please?Ysh wrote:Force name change for any reason is ''moderation'' in my books. But I will amend previous statement to as follows:loftar wrote: That's not really the idea either way. "White Pride"'s name was changed by request of its ruler, not for moderation reasons. "Player Pop" was likewise not changed for moderation reasons, but because we felt like it.
If I run this game I think I will not open Pandora's box of perform forced name change for any reason except legal obligation.
@ysh: I don't know... that's a hard call there, and opinions on that vary widely across the Internet. I think for a village or player names, it should be hands off, but realms cover a lot of people, and it's harder to push them out of the way once they come charging in. I mean, it's open world PvP, so if you don't like a village or player, you can easily get rid of them. Realms, given the size of the player base around them, might be a bit harder to kill by players.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Can't agree with that @Magic Population crashes due to winter seem to have left a lot of the long term active players pretty bitter. At least the ones I know.

Re: Game Development: Dressed in Ermine
I think if a group makes a realm name that's offensive to others, they should be allowed to keep it even if it's hard to push them back. After all, everything can be offensive if you look at it a certain way. All offended feelings should be treated equally.MagicManICT wrote:@ysh: I don't know... that's a hard call there, and opinions on that vary widely across the Internet. The might makes right aspect of Haven is fun and pretty unique in today's world. If the difficulty of pushing back enemies really is an issue what we should discuss is realm mechanics and balance, not whether censorship is in order.

Don't tell me what ideas I can and can't have.
And nice prank jorbo, maybe you will consider moderating a certain village name next?
